Not interested in women isn't the same thing as gay.

That's true, but asexuality wasn't common knowledge at the time and not being into women was an extremely common euphemism for homosexuality.

Even two men just living with each other without a woman have been viewed as closeted homosexuals, even when one of them has a ton of female love interests; look at how many jokes have been made about Batman & Robin over the years.

The more I think about this series the less I understand the motivations behind it or why it's being handled this way.

The idea of a fight to the death flies in the face of the original series' themes and character motivations. If the new show is a gritty reboot with a much more intimidating or hateable Skeletor and a more badass/morally ambiguous He-Man, why even bother claiming that it's connected to the corny 80s show?

Why bother giving it such a terrible, misleading name when something like Teela: Quest For The Sword would work much better?

Why not renew She-Ra for another season and use that to promote the new Teela series as a spinoff?

Why not cynically put He-Man's name in the title anyway for recognition purposes? Barely anyone knows who the Masters of The Universe are.

Pretty much everything about it would make more sense if it was a continuation of the reboot rather than the original '80s series.

SInce its going to be in new shiny anime style animation anyway instead of trying to match the old clunky 80's stuff... (If they went and got the Castlevania guys I assume they're going to shoot for something at least a little bit grittier and not as goofy) will there actually be anything to really honestly tell the difference between the two? Something that any laymen would instinctively go "oh, that's from this version". The 2002 show updated all the visuals but kept the basic designs and plot entirely intact ANYWAY so...

The kind of voice they shoot for on Skeletor I guess? How buff Adam is compared to He-Man?

I have the gut feeling that Skeletor is going to be voiced by Tom Kenny.

The "ferocious final battle that forever fractures Eternia" sounds more like Batman V Superman than He-Man 2003.

Will he be imitating Sammy Davis Jr. for this too?

Part 1 of Masters of The Universe Revelation is coming out on Netflix in July.

    Based on this:

I think it's safe to say they're going with the earlier pitch of He-Man and Skeletor vanishing and most of the show focusing around Teela leading a new team.
Which is... fine in a vacuum I guess. The art looks cool and they got Mark Hamill to voice Skeletor which should be interesting.
But they're also not telling people upfront that this is a Teela show, which is just asking for an insane backlash.
Maybe things have changed and Teela's story arc was cut down or the show's length was expanded to make more room for He-Man and Skeletor stuff.
It would be nice to get more than one episode of Mark Hamill's Skeletor.

I hate it already based on that image alone, without knowing anything else, lol

I don't know...it feels like they're trying to do what they did with the early 2000's, again, maybe a bit more mature. It's all going to depend on the writing, I think.

There's a film reel icon in the top right of your text entry. You can hit that when you want to drop in a video.

    Like so.

Looks like they picked up on making skinny Adam from the 2002 version. And He-man is even more mega ridiculous super buff than before.

Whoever cut the trailer did a good job, beat matching to THAT song so there's physical hits to the drum beats is pretty damn effective.

The *animation* looks good and its doing what it can with those designs (if only the She-Ra show had gotten that studio..) but man those designs have largely not aged great, even with good animation propping them up.

Dinky Greyskull castle looks kind of sad nowadays though.

That transformation is a lot more Sailor moon than it used to be.

I tried to do that, but it seems it doesn't work on my mobile device.

I love how the internet was expecting someone to be gay just cause "Netflix".

MMaybe someone is, but we're in for a big surprise.
