Thread: The Promised Neverland

I do wonder if the Numa+Nous canibalism powerup is going to pay off again this arc. If the little monkey or Bayon's asistants that were offscreened go and eat some of the bodies things could get dicey again.

There's also now Adam missing, who says that the eater has to be a monster for it to work?

But my initial criticism of this arc stands, the goldy pond kids should have been developed a little before this whole hunt. I can't care about these kids if I don't learn their names, or their characteristics at the very least, before they get mauled by demons.

To be blunt, I'm not interested in the back story of the jobbers when all our MCs are engaged with the main enemy. Not every side character can be a Senor Pink. This way the pacing is way better.
"Often I think about my many comrades fallen by my side. I heard their curses against the war and its authors, the revolt against their murder. And I, as a survivor, believe that I am inspired by their will to struggle, for the idea of peace and human fraternity."

I think it works better this way. Instead of getting to know the kids beforehand (which would have killed the pacing of the arc), we learn more about them by how they act during the fights. They come into their own characters through the action and we emphatise with them beacause they are the underdogs in this situation. It also helps the fights are good and full of twists.
I would have a bigger problem with it if the kids had been killed of right after we came to knew them just to make the readers sad, but that hasn't happened yet. Considering no major character has died yet just for shock value, I trust the story won't go down that route.

At the very least the girl that N.. uma? Nomus? impaled is going to be dead, and I don't have much hope for the one that was twisted on the floor, and the ragdolled dude only has a little more because the old dude stopped the punishment.

The one that saved Lucas might die because he can say his goodbyes and fade away.

It is not "let's have two volumes of adventures" before they act, but let's "leave an impression on the reader" and if not their name, at the very least a distinctive feature of them. Compare to the reveal of the demons, true they were less and had more room to play with their designs, but the humans had the time to interact with Emma.

Well, we knew Lewis was going to look . . . . interesting.

He reminds me of Scarecrow a little bit, actually.

I dont really understand the power scalling/level of Lewis... he can stop gunshots like nothing, but than gets hit by a light granade and some shitty plan with electricity, soon after he again is so overpowerd and undefeatable from the protagonisr view...

    Did you read these scenes?

Guns: Lewis is fast enough to catch them, just to show off, but the bulets themselves would cause reparable damage, unless hits the core.

Stun Grenade: eyes are eyes, you can't train your eyes to be "stun grenade resistant", why would lewis be as well. Do the demons even have eyelids?

Electricity: he didn't take damage from it, he was just surprised for being in contact with electricity for the first time in his life, and then went on to keep doing his shit.

What of those events doesn't line up with what we know about Lewis?

I think i will take a pause after lewis is beaten. This it not the genre i like the most so reading in block may be better for me
In particular, the yes we can, no we cannot, yes we can, no we cannot... from this chapter was not particularly enthusiastic

I think this series works best when the protagonists have to deal with a threat under specific constraints with little outside variables.

This would make a fabulous video game.

Also, Lewis, we might have that love in our life if you fuckers didn't keep destroying it.

Another manga dream! It was time for the great breakout of a plantation, while Emma prepared the kids, and ray looked for supplies, and a friendly demon who looked like the Beast escorted him, a Mom and a dozen of children arrived to subdue us, that mom looked like Gillian of the last few chapters but blonde and two meters tall.

We talk until I slip out the word "office" as the kids start saying that they don't know what that is, then I insult the mom (to see the reaction of the kids, and because she implied that my definition of office was worse than the kids being eaten without saying it) and I woke up.

I assume that Adam is a creation of the new plantation revealed in the Norman chapter, my only question is how he had escaped in the first place, much less made it to Goldy Pond. The idea of him being sent off much like other children from plantations doesn't seem to add up since we already have the low grade farms with speechless children and that place comes off as more of a research facility.
