Thread: Enen no Shouboutai

I read it mainly for the characters, the worldbuilding and the action packed battles. The art doesn't need any mention because this is the author of SE we're talking about, his art has always been outstanding.

The plot is still shaping into something, but the premise is quite promising. And the setting is easily one of the darkest I've read in a while.

    Spoiler:
The fact at some point Shinra will have to put his mom out of her misery, is a pretty fucked up thing.

This manga subverts tropes and cliches in very creative ways. All this worldbuilding has to lead somewhere and I'm trhrilled to learn more about it.

I can understand that the plot may feel dragged since this is a weekly serialization, but why do you consider the characters "tiresome"? Some say they're bland, most of them. But bland doesn't equal bad, and IMO is that simplicity what makes most of the main cast kinda endearing. They are also getting their dose of character development and the author takes his time to expand on their backgrounds so we the readers can know them better.

To be honest I'm not much into this series, so I don't remember most of the characters. I like the tension between the two brothers and the MC's battle to get back his little brother, but just when they met we couldn't know much about the little bro and the author decided to "keep" the big revelations about them for the future; that was like... no idea... 80 chapters ago or something? I like the guy with eye patch and also the lazy captain who was teaching Shinra and his friend some chapters ago. But iirc when these two characters became allies, right in that moment the scanlator released the precise chapters with some missing pages... (I remeber I wrote them about it and had no answer) Beyond those guys the rest of the characters didn't touch me at all. And a dragged plot doesn't help you to like the characters so... I lost interest many chapters ago. I follow it mainly for the art and the duels ...

Afak (and I don't know much about this series) it's about to be revealed in the next chapters, but yes, I too got the feeling he's Benimaru

I've only been watching the anime. But the new theme songs are really good.

Through the clothing and manner at where he had his arm, it's
    Spoiler:
Beni (he recently trained Shinra and the others, plus is the 7th's captain. Him and Joker infiltrated the Holy Sol)
    and it was hilariously done.

Hibana's finding out that the sisters were basically being experimented on and this specific sister "Sister Sumire" shouldn't be alive, but it looks like she is. This is coming from the latest revelation that Iris is the 8th Pillar. Her hypothesis is that Iris survived because she is the pillar and it is implied that Iris is the pillar in 195

A question for those following it more properly
    Spoiler:
What the hell does the white clad's gain from destroying life on earth?

I'm afraid your question still doesn't have a proper answer.

    Spoiler:
So far, what we do know is that the White Clads are looking to gather the eight pillars so they can put their plan in motion.

Up until now, there are six pillars whose names are known. Those are Hitohashira-me (1st), Haumea (2nd), Shinra's brother, Sho (3rd), Shinra himself (4th), Inca (5th), and Nataku (6th).

It's heavily implied, from massive foreshadowing, that Iris is also a pillar, and has awakened just recently.

I'm really invested in this manga. I already like it more than Soul Eater, and I loved that one. So ask me any question I can answer, if you feel like.

    You're half correct.

    Spoiler:
Except Hibana already had fire powers before the fire happened. Those who have awakened fire powers are unaffected by either the bugs or the spontaneous combustion.

And now is pretty much confirmed.

    Spoiler:
Hitohashira-me is Iris doppelganger. Or maybe is the other way around? Regardless, that makes Iris the eight and simultaneously the first pillar.

    This just keeps getting better.
