Marvel Movies Thread: Excelsior!

Well this movie technically has it's first trailer (after the Captain America movie), so I figured it was time to make a thread for this.

Anyway, from what I've seen (I can't say much because of possible spoilers)...

... it's looking very good.

So since we can't talk about the trailer too much yet, let's talk characters!

To my count so far we have:

Captain America
Iron Man
Thor
Hulk
Nick Fury
Black Widow
Hawkeye
and
Agent Coulson (if you want to include him too.)

(There are a few more that I know of but can't mention them at the moment because of spoilers and plot)

So any thoughts on current roster? who else do you want to see?

It'd be awesome if Spider-man was also in the team.

He was for a short period time in the comics. However like Wolverine; There only really on the team when they go up against a villan that threatens the entire world.

I never liked Spidey (or Wolverine for that matter) on the Avengers. He just feels out of place.

Janet and Hank would've been nice, though I understand why they didn't use them.

That's probably because it's so...weird to see Wolverine be with another group besides the X-man. An Spiderman is like the Batman of the marvel universe. He's solo all the time until they need him. Plus as of now he has his own personal shit to deal with.

I still can't believe he's dealing with Mephisto -___-

Janet and Hank would've been nice, though I understand why they didn't use them.

Agreed. It feels weird without Antman and Wasp. I mean not only were they on the founding team of Avengers in the regular Marvel Universe, but even in the Ultimate Universe. They're really the only two other members I like to see. Characters like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch would also technically qualify historically too like Hawkeye, but we won't see the two of them because they're Magneto's kids, we can blame Fox for that one. Who knows, though unlikely, hopefully we'll get a surprise with Wasp and Antman.

Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver might not have been part of the deal Marvel made with Fox. Cable, for example, is still owned by Marvel because he's not recognised as an X-Man. Though these characters can't be recognised as mutants obviously or the children of Magneto and Cyclops.

Or Sentry. Sentry is cool.

The roster looks good. I wonder how they'll handle the Hulk.

Well, it's Whedon, so 50% of the people who see it will love it to death and the other 50% will call it the most terrible shit ever created.

I wonder if we'll get Loki manipulating the Hulk at some point, I'd like to see that as a callback to when the Avengers formed.

But if it does indeed fail, it would really piss off millions and millions of Avengers fans.

It's a comic book movie, so it's going to piss off millions of fans regardless of quality.

That is the truth. Hell, there are die-hard fans who are still complaining that Samuel L. Jackson is playing Nick Fury.

I'm always amazed at some of the idiotic things comic book fanboys say when it comes to adaptations of their favorite characters.
