That number can't possibly be right. FUNimation themselves tweeted out a photo of a relatively full theater showing in DFW that easily could have gross 5-600 on its own. Not to mention the theater count for Thursday is defintely higher than 110.

For those trying to follow box-office, something I should point out is that it’s not uncommon for smaller movie releases (or movies that are nearing the end of their theatrical run) to not always update their box-office stats daily. A particular days earnings are sometimes not updated until several days later (whereas it would usually be the next day for most other movies). This is especially true on weekends, when most studios only put out “estimates” of boxoffice earnings; it often makes more sense to just wait until Monday to put out “actuals” when your movie isn’t drawing in big bucks like the more mainstream movies. So the fact that no information has been posted for Thursday yet doesn’t automatically mean it made very little.

That is true, I guess we'll just have to wait until Monday for the actuals for Thursday and possibly the weekend. I was just estimating. I'll only report if we get box office numbers and if we don't for certain days, I'll wait til Monday or whenever they're released. Thanks for the heads up

Well I'm just estimating too; I ultimately don’t know how much it did or didn’t make on Thursday. I'm just putting it out there that releases like this aren't always treated as “high-priority”, so updates aren't always going to be at the same rate as the more mainstream movies. I would just suggest we wait and see over the next couple days before assuming too much

It seems like it's not listed on the Box Office report for Friday's earnings so we probably won't get any reports for Thursday through Sunday until Monday when it should start to be updated daily until it's last day on Tuesday. At least it's doing very well which is a great sign as it shows that One Piece is about #3 in terms of FUNi's biggest properties. The brand managers did call it a staple for them recently as well

I actually felt that she was fine when she was singing on her own. As someone else implied, the song only becomes a little shrill when they're both singing together towards the end of it.

Don't even get me started on the countless amounts of plot holes in this movie. Watching this film with an even slightly critical eye takes all the fun out of it. I was able to enjoy it way more the second time around.

Speaking of, I saw it on the 12th for a second time in a more typical movie theater. Whereas the premiere night had a full Alamo theater (100-150 seats), the showing on the 12th for me only had about twenty people in it.

I saw it in Brooklyn Monday evening. The theater was maybe 70% full. A lot of adult fans brought their young children to see it.

The movie was very enjoyable, and the dub was fantastic. Keith Silverstein was fantastic casting. So great to hear Christopher Smith and Jason Liebrecht again.

Also VERY odd to hear *very* current story events being referenced in the dub. Dressrosa being name-dropped (pronounced with a soft 's'), CP-0, hearing Sabo and Koala. Hard to judge Vic Mignogna's performance here, as I could hardly remember what adult Sabo sounded like in Japanese. But there was certainly nothing wrong with his performance.

I hope the movie does well enough in theaters to warrant future One Piece movies the same treatment.

Other than Doflamingo's one name-drop I don't recall Dressrosa being mentioned at all in the Japanese. I wonder if FUNi added it in to get current fans hyped and let them know they are aware of what events are coming.

So they never updated the sales beyond week two. I guess we'll have to wait for OPP to have interviews with a Funi rep to find out how well it did.

Hey guys! I still haven't seen this film and I'm dying too. So happy to see so many positive reviews of it!

Forgot to say something here before, but I actually did get the chance to see it a couple weekends ago in my hometown (sure wasn't expecting it would be playing there). The entire theater it was playing in was full, so that made me happy to see.

I really liked it a lot. I thought the voice actors did a pretty good job, and even though I already knew the basic plot and stuff (having watched a raw Japanese version online before), being able to actually understand the whole thing this time was pretty nice.
It's true that Lucci, Sabo, and Koala were barely in the movie (Koala literally had one short scene) considering the amount of advertising it got, but since the Straw Hats are the ones I mainly like to see anyway, I guess I didn't mind as much as maybe some people did. Having recently watched the FMAB dub, I could totally hear the Edward Elric in Sabo's voice, haha.

It's true that, if you worked really hard to dissect the plot, a whole lotta stuff would just fall apart, so I took the same approach as other people and decided not to think on it too hard and just enjoy the show. I actually haven't seen Strong World or Z yet, so I can't compare it to those, but I can say that I found it to be quite enjoyable overall.

As soon as I heard Vic Mignoganagasnasg, I nearly screamed "NOOOOOOOO" in the theater. Any word on a blu-ray or dvd, btw??

Saw it with some friends, one who likes One Piece and one who had watched it way back when 4kids aired it on Cartoon Network. The latter really liked it, and got a lot of laughs out of it. (He was also flabbergasted by all the same-body women lol)

Yu-Gi-Oh didn't chart at all yesterday at the box office so that's clearly a sign that Film Gold did very well

That's interesting because of the three anime movies I went to this month (One Piece, Sailor Moon, and YuGiOh) YuGiOh had the most people in the theater, followed by Sailor Moon BUT what I noticed is that we got One Piece in big theater chain AMC, Sailor Moon ended up in art house theaters and a few AMC Theaters, and Yu-Gi-Oh is mainly Emagine Theaters (which I believe is local in Michigan) and didn't have as much diverse theater selection as One Piece and Sailor Moon did.

I mean, if Yu-Gi-Oh or Sailor Moon ended up doing the numbers Film Gold did or even got better numbers than it, they would have been shown in the box office earnings for the days they were out because Viz and 4K Media would be very proud about them but they haven't and likely won't and Eleven Arts (Sailor Moon) and Screenvision (Yu-Gi-Oh) do post box office results so it's not like they've never done them. All in all, it's a great sign for Film Gold and One Piece in general because it shows where the series stands in terms of popularity in the US and it's more popular than we initially thought. Film Gold was brought to 372 theaters while Sailor Moon was brought to 300 and Yu-Gi-Oh was brought to over 500 so Film Gold made more than Sailor Moon because it was in more theaters and it made more than Yu-Gi-Oh despite DSOD's larger theater count which is bad for Yu-Gi-Oh considering that it was released in over 500 theaters

One Piece Film: Gold's final North American gross is $423,593

The movie now stands as FUNi's 6th highest grossing release beating out Attack on Titan Part 2 but not beating out AoT Part 1

Hmm... not too good. Film Gold was in a lot more theaters than both AoT movies, both being live-action adaptations that most people didn't want to watch either so... meh. Can't say I expected much more from OP here, though. I'm surprised they gave it a theater run to begin with. 

Hopefully it did well enough for FUNi not to conclude this as a dud.

Where does it stand on with anime films overall?

Never mind, just checked - 33rd place on the list overall. Hmm. There are quite a few anime films with much less showings and theaters and they STILL beat One Piece. Lmao oh geez...

    Welp. At least it beat the abysmal showing of the Alabasta movie, right guys? ^_^;

Now I see why Toonami and HULU are dropping the series.

Yeah. But it's still a mainstream platform that OP is once again leaving. Not gonna help the franchise's already lacking popularity here. As this final box-office and Toonami's cancellation shows you, OP just isn't that well-liked in the US.

You're RomeIsHome25 aren't you? Dude, seriously? Did people not chew you out enough already? This limited release did great and for some reason you can't understand that. One Piece is liked in the US, quit acting like its hated. It was a success for FUNi, anybody can tell you that. It was their 6th highest grossing release and not everything needs to make a million dollars to be successful. If the series wasn't successful over here, they would have dropped it by now but they haven't and don't intend on doing so.

Please just stop, me and several other forums members are sick and tired of this and before you accuse me of being overly optimistic about its popularity in the US, don't even try that because the proof is right there dude. People in the anime industry consider this release successful so yeah
