It has its history in blackface minstrel shows.

It's just a song, though. I don't think most people associate it with or even know about its connection with minstrel shows. I don't think it has been used in any racist context for at least 60 to 70 years. I honestly don't see any harm in playing it. The melody itself doesn't contain any racist content, after all, it's just a piece of art.

Oh Susanna which was another minstrel song originally had casual use of the N-Word up til someone grew some brain cells and pruned it out.

North Korea is a bad country and they should feel bad about it.

Of all the mammalians one could eat, I still can comprehend how someone can chose to eat a dog.

CAN or CAN'T? Because yeah, I don't get it either. Unless you were on the brink of starvation maybe, but even then.

The Montagnard people of Vietnam eat dogs. Cats and monkeys, too. My dad told me they offered some up to his patrol.

Apparently, dog tastes sweet, cat is stringy, and monkey is even better. Water Buffalo was kind of average.

The English teacher I had during my senior year in high school mentioned how his group was stalked by a monkey in a jungle and they ended up killing it when it tried to attack them. I forgot if they ate it too. He mentioned how he was looking at its corpse and thinking it looked like a little kid.

In college I took Environmental Science and the professor mentioned a trip where a group he was in was running out of food and somebody ended up cooking their dog, and the owner of the dog who was also leading the group said he was a good dog while they were eating him.

The English teacher was in the military at some point, but I forget which branch he was in or what his group was doing in the jungle. He shared a lot of funny stories about his life and has a jolly laugh like Santa. The Environmental Science professor was a researcher with decades of experience, I enjoyed his class and it's clear he lived what he was teaching. He spent a lot of his time as a scientist in Hawaii, but I forget if that's where the dog eating trip happened.

Disclaimer: this post isn't in defense or opposition of which animals people should eat, I just saw the opportunity to share these anecdotes and felt like doing so.

Like one thing is to eat a wild dog in the street, the other is to demand the owner to hands off their dogs.

Wolves didn't passed through thousand of years of evolution for this kind of bullshit.

Well according to naavs there's no more stray dog in the streets of the glorious bolivarian paradise that's Venezuela.
But no it's the same thing. Come on kage the saddest part in "Vidas Secas" is when they eat Baleia.

The people of Tahiti used to raise a breed of dog entirely to use as livestock. Apparently, the meat stunk to high heaven when cooked but was the most delicious meat Captain Cook's crew ever ate.

Compared to anything Cook had to eat during his time in the navy, dog meat must be heavenly.
