Thread: The Muppets

  1. #1

    Default The Muppets

I am in fact, a complete romantic sap.

Anyone that knows me knows I'm a hopeless romantic at heart, I'll root for couples in real life as well as on screen, I'll cheer or even cry when appropriate, and I'll do anything I can to make a lady smile if I've taken a liking to her.

And yes, I even like the occasional romantic comedy. I still get amused by My Best Friend's Wedding, Forget Paris, and Moulin Rouge is one of my all time favorite movies, period. And of course Princess Bride and Stardust are great fantasy romances.

I don't usually get to the theaters for these things, but I just saw this trailer that I thought looked really good. It's got Jason Segel, Amy Adams... and even from just this little trailer you can tell they're going to be wonderful in it. Looks very romantic and funny. Check it out. I might just have to see this in the theater.

So, what are your guys favorite romcoms?

    Mine...

    ~ Punch Drunk Love
    ~ Eternal Sunshine
    ~ City Lights
    ~ Away We Go
    ~ Amelie
~ Lars and the Real Girl
    ~ Lost in Translation
    ~ 500 Days of Summer
    ~ Manhattan

Granted, not all of those fit the genre perfectly. I know I am missing a few. Im on the mobile so I will check out the trailer later.

EDIT: loved the trailor. I am all about Mr Jason and Mrs Amy.

Speaking of Amy Adams, I really kind of like Enchanted, for that matter. Its a little girls movie, and its a little stupid, but its an unashamed full blown Disney animated musical... in live action. The song numbers were great and Gizelle was a lot of fun and I can't hold the plot against it when it was so FUN and full of joy, and the straightman was great at being annoyed by everything.

Also, similarly titled Ella Enchanted was also cute in its own way. Mostly for the "want somebody to love" song number. Both movies aimed at little girls, but still fun.

Neither of them were anywhere near Princess Bride level though.

Shogun was a FANTASTIC romantic book/tv miniseries. Multi-cultural romance war story thing going on. Blackthorne was so awesome.

    That ending...
    Spoiler:
Was not expecting Muppets. Romance with the Muppets. Love Amy Adams and Jason Seagel so I'm definitely want to see this.

As for love stories, I'm a sap. Personally love Definitely, Maybe and 500 Days of Summer.
And I grew up in the Disney/Nick era where shipping best friends was common so I'm also a sucker for corny best friend romances.

The trailer looked great, I love me some cheesy romantic movies. I just really hope they don't screw up.

Uhh... you do know this is
    Spoiler:
just a very clever teaser for the upcoming Muppet movie (which has Amy Adams and Jason Segel). "Green with Envy" is not a real movie xD it was just a joke.

(or you're all just playing along... )

    Great on comedy.
    Meh on romance.

    Summary of my reactions:

    Spoiler:
-Aww, I love Romantic Comedies too!
-Oh, a trailer? And Robby is interested? Must be good!
    -OH! Jason Segal!
