If you haven't seen the Daniel Craig films then do so. They are without a doubt the best two in my book.

Quantum gets a lot of hate but I've never understood quite why.

I did not like Quantum actions scenes because they cut too much. I was having a headache during the car chase. Too much product placement.

Martin Campbell is not directing it? Then i'll just go ahead and lower my expectations.

I can't take another disapointment like Quantum unless i bracing myself for it.

I thought that too; some scenes were extremely fast-paced. But I did like the film. Strawberry Fields and the Oil Death, which I'm sure was intended as a nostalgic little wink to Goldfinger, I thought was unoriginal and a bit childish to do.

I didn't approve of the franchises turn with Casino Royale (still better than Die Another Day though. Urrrgh), and Quantum is the worst Bond movie of the lot. I third the action scenes being confusing, and much too Bourne for my tastes. The plot barely made any sense, none of the characters were memorable, and the climax was incredibly underwhelming. James Bond has blown up Volcano Bases, fought traitorous agents on giant parabol antennaes and nefarious terrorists in nuclear submarines. This time, he fends off a guy with an axe in an nearly empty hotel in the middle of nowhere.
The movie only felt like Bond in the one scene where he scored that MI6 chick.

    So colour me unenthused.

I believe the only book there's enough material left in to properly adapt is "The Spy Who Loved me" (the film of the same name wasn't based on the actual book, and a good number of films took material from several books), which Fleming didn't want adapted in the first place.

    As Moneypenny? Bollocks.

    EDIT:

Ralph Fiennes and Javier Bardim also pretty much confirmed. Can't wait to see Ralph in it.

Well at least it's a consistant job. Even if she satirized it, I'm sure Lois Maxwell (was going to confuse her with "Lois Chiles" from Moonraker, stupid me) liked the cosnsistant paycheck for all those movies.
    Y'know, Negima WAS awesome...
    For the first 18 volumes.

    Another Bond film?
2012 is starting to look better already.

Let us not forget: 2012 = 50th anniversary of Dr. No, thus why I see it nice/appropriate/good that we're getting a Bond movie then.

And never forget "Brave" on your '12 list of movies.

Took MGM long enough. Jesus. Happy Craig is still around and I think Mendes is an interesting choice.

Ralph will be a beast and yea definitely will be broke next year because of these movies.

I know Sam Mendes from "American Beauty" but I don't know how he directs action films. It could be interesting.

I am not sure about the choice for Moneypenny. She looks more like a regular Bond girl. I have always thought that Gemma Arterton would have been better for this part (but they killed her off after 5 minutes of screentime). Even Rosamund Pike would have been perfect as well.

The only thing I've liked so far about the DC bond films was the Casino Royale opening, so not a great deal of enthusiam here.

Well, I guess this contributes a lot more credence to the theory that James Bond an alias.

It's not an alias lol. It's a character that keeps being retold. Like Legend of Zelda except without the timeline crap.
Like we're at 3-4 retellings by this point.
Retell the story and you could even make him a woman if you really wanted.

Eh, as long as it is good they can slap the name on a platypus with a hat and i would be happy.

Although i still feel a bit uneasy when i think about Skyfall and i imagine some exec saying "Oh this character is a strong female portrait. Well, we can't have that".
