Because people loved and wanted more Connery. They weren't ready for the handoff yet.

Its generally assumed if Lazenby had gotten more films he'd be more liked, or if Connery had done OHMSS, it would be considered best... but its hard to say since they both brought vastly different interpretations to the character.

Its kind of like how nobody picks Doctor Who number 8 as their favorite.

    I do !

Paul McGann was one of the very very very few gems in a rubbish movie. His take on the
character was brilliant - Could have been the Tennant of his day if he had gotten more screentime.

There's a bit more to it than that. It wasn't just that the people wanted Connery over Lazenby, it's also that Lazenby sort of thought there was no future to Bond and that he'd be typecast instead of getting the roles that films were becoming. Remember: OHMSS was 1969, film was/has changed and Bond was essentially considered passe to the general public...at least until "The Spy Who Loved Me" came out in 1977.
    Y'know, Negima WAS awesome...
    For the first 18 volumes.

Live & Let Die is my favourite bond film.

Always a soft spot for evil dalton as bond though.

Both the Richard Kiel movies were great and are probably the ones i've re-watched the most.

From Russia with Love has always been my favourite. Bond before he became a parody of himself.

That's another reason i loved Moore. It's like he knew better than anyone that Bond was turning into a self-parody, and you can see that in his performance. Maybe that's what made some of his later movies enjoyable.

The best thing moore ever did was that slightly worried look when Jaws dusted himself off.

He pretty much plays his "The Saint" character.

I actually really like the over the top Bond films. If they're not, they're just generic action movies to me.

So yes, I love Pierce Brosnan and his Bond movies.

Pierce Brosnan as Bond reminds me of Charlie Sheen in Hot Shots! I and II, and yeah, that's a compliment.

It seems our Bond is moving on (or just filling the Gap)

Damn, that sucks. I really wanted Daniel Craig to continue playing Bond if possible. I want to see where the storyline was going to go.... Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace were awesome.

It might be for the best. You can't just sit around to be Bond forever...and with MGM/UA in turmoil (though considering UA used to be a distributor of EON, the independent production company formed by Saltzman and Broccoli, why doesn't Barbara just find a new company to distribute the films?), who knows when the next film will be. (though...personally I say there should be one by 2012, the 50th anniversary of "Dr. No")

    I'd rank them
    Connery
    Brosnan
    Lazenby
    Moore
    Craig
    Dalton

Connery and Brosnan were the the perfect blend of "serious" and silly bond for me, with the exception of Die Another Day which was wayyyy past the limit on the Silly meter. On the other hand, Casino and to an extreme degree Quantum took themselves far too serious for bond movies.

Default James Bond 23 Officially Confirmed

    http://www.firstshowing.net/2011/mgm...of-james-bond/

Still MGM; no Spyglass. November 9th For 2012. Craig is back; with Sam Mendes directing.
Between this and The Dark Knight Rises I don't give a fuck if the Armageddon looms.

Considering that they handed over all the rights to The Hobbit besides TV revenue, they pretty much have to make this film as it's the only thing MGM has anymore.

I wonder if they cut a deal with Warner Brothers to get the money to make this Bond film in exchange for the distribution rights to The Hobbit.
    Complicating things since 2009.

    Awesome.

I heard rumours that it's most likely going to be an adaption of Devil May Care but I'm not sure how accurate that is

Twenty-three movies!? Geez. I haven't watched the last couple. Still interested in what it's about. Have they run out of books to adapt?

Dont think so - but that's never stopped them before.

If you haven't seen the Daniel Craig films then do so. They are without a doubt the best two in my book.

Quantum gets a lot of hate but I've never understood quite why.
