Thread: Official Tournament Rules

    Default Official Tournament Rules

Lo, these be the Commandments by which this forum shall abide and that member which breaks them shall be smote by a vengeful Mod.

    I. No character bashing. This is the law of the land. Personal feelings about a character are irrelevant; criticism is one thing, but constantly harping on how you wish that Oda would kill this character gets old quick. Don't do it.

II. Be positive and try to remember that this is all for fun. No flaming of other members and no whining about who won or who lost. Harassment of other members will be dealt with swiftly and brutally.

III. If a problem comes up, check with one of the people listed at the bottom of the forum and consult with them about it. If you don't get a prompt answer, then wait as spamming them with PMs is probably just going to piss them off. The best idea is to try Ubiq or Urouge first; Tare is probably too busy working on the tournament, Suave Debonair or Ivotas will probably just mock you and Robby, well, Robby always lies. Don't trust a thing he says is my advice.

IV. Regular members are not allowed to create threads within this forum so don't even try.

    V. When a poll is closed, the thread will be as well. The next poll will begin shortly after that.

VI. Creation of duplicate accounts to run up votes for one character or the other is strictly prohibited and will be punished with a banning.

VII. All votes are final. If you managed to vote for the wrong person, well, I'm sorry, but that's that. If you aren't sure who to vote for, read the thread for a while and see if someone sways you one way or the other. That or flip a coin.

VIII. Rules regarding campaigns from last time remain in effect for this tournament.
    The following are prohibited:
    -Boob campaigns
-Campaigns that refer to arguments from other areas of the board.
-Massive images that are not hidden by spoiler tags
    -Autoplay Youtube videos

A situation may arise where another form of campaign may result in numerous complaints to the management; if so, it'll be banned as well. Complaining about it will avail you not as that campaign has obviously crossed a line with somebody that didn't need to be crossed.

IX. If you write a post and some variation of "This might be NSFW, but" appears in it, just save us all some time and delete whatever it was that you were about to post. Keep it PG-13, folks.

    X. For the purposes of this Tournament, this Event Forum is seperate from the rest of Arlong Park Forums. So leave any arguments or personal animosity you have with another member at the door. If you didn't like something in the last chapter of One Piece or Kishimoto/Kubo actually managed to do something right for once, discuss it in those sections not here. Derailing threads with off-topic nonsense is strictly prohibited. On-topic nonsense is greatly encouraged.

XI. This Tournament is based on the manga. As a result of this, some of the characters involved may constitute spoilers for our anime only members. We apologize for the inconvenience. However, this does not mean that discussion of spoilers for the latest chapters is allowed within this forum. Discussing things from the spoiler forum will lead to a ban from the entire Arlong Park forum per forum rules. Do not do this.

XII. These rules are subject to revision as becomes necessary.
    Complicating things since 2009.

    Default Questions About Voting

We have been getting several questions about voting. Some forum members have found that they are unable to vote, and some were able to vote at the start of the preliminaries, but no longer can.

If your account was created after March 12, 2010 , after the tournament had been announced, you fall into the category of forum goers that are ineligible to vote.

Sorry for the inconvenience, especially if you signed up just to participate, but you can blame other users who tried to cheat by creating multiple accounts for the sake of a popularity tournament, for fun on the internet.

You can however still participate in all other forum activities and campaign. If over the next several months you prove yourself to be a proper poster that isn't just a new account for the sake of voting, you might be allowed to vote before the final rounds, this is an exception that was made last year and will be again.

If you created an account BEFORE March 12, and are unable to vote, contact a tournament supervisor.

Default Why is THAT character winning?

Something that has been coming up quite a bit is people have been asking "Why is THAT character winning?" followed by some negative complaint towards a competitor, or worse, towards the people voting for said character.

This is not allowed, as it violates both rules 1 and 2.

This is a popularity tournament, for fun, and the answer to the question is aways going to be "Because more people voted for this character." You may not understand, or disagree with the reasons for it, but it is how it is, OTHER PEOPLE have opinions different from your own, and look for different things in what they enjoy than you do.

We've been lenient on this point so far, but will take action in the future. So please. Just have fun with it. Don't complain, just campaign.

    Default Re: Official Tournament Rules

    New rule.

Anyone who posts "Haters gonna hate" campaigns gets banned from the tourney. Regardless of their candidate.

It's stupid, uncreative, has no bearing on the actual characters, and its actively insulting anyone that voices an opposing opinion without any rhyme or reason behind it.
