Thread: CCC's Sculpts

  1. #1

    Default CCC's Sculpts

Quick overall summary. Everything I've made here is done in Sculpey III polymer clay. It's all baked (hard), and nearly every piece has a wire armature inside, for structure. I never use paint; all clay colors are obtained by mixing others. The links under each name are links to the original post, and typically include supplementary progress shots or alternate angle shots.

    Kaku

He's made of Sculpey III polymer clay, and he stands at 22 inches high and weighs 4 pounds (?!). He looks mighty unstable, but is, in fact, quite solid. Although I'm still scared to death that he'll topple over forward and smash into tiny pieces.
Not much else to say as far as the sculpture- there are no removable accessories or anything.
Oh yeah, the top half (from the shirt part of the suit up) is not attached to the bottom half, so it just sort of rests there.

    Bidding starts at $4000 USD....

Nah I could never sell it.

As much as I don't like saying the generic "wow that's awesome," that's... pretty amazing. How long did it take to make it?

That's just fucking astounding, truly amazing. I know how hard it is to sculpt, I'm amazed that such tiny legs have so much to hold up. I can't believe it's even possible. And it looks like it was taken right out of the anime. This is really something to behold, treasure that work.

Really nice job! Great pose, nice sculpt, good proportions.

It would be absolutely perfect if you smoothed out the lumpiness that some of the parts have...if you don't mind my saying so .

Oh yay, you're done with it. Glad to see you got the height issue worked out. Looks fantastic. Amazing attention to detail... Wow. Just... amazing. XD I can't explain it any other way.

What kind of wire did you use for the frame?

I did it over the course of three days, working pretty much all day (each day). So... at least 20 hours?

Yeah, I lied in the first post. It's not Sculpey III but Sculpey Studio; some new variety that seems to have nicer colors, and was on sale.

Of course not. I can take criticism as well as the next guy *eye twitches*
No but seriously, I know that that's a problem in my work; do you have any advice? I think one factor is the heat where I live, because as soon as I smooth over a part and move on to something else, everything else (slowly) starts sagging (e.g.: I worked over every inch of that neck so many times, but it's still... lumpy).

Yeah, bending the neck was really the only way to go, although it would have been crazy-cool if it could have been straight, and therefore 30 inches tall.
And the wire is 16 gauge, galvanized, Ook brand. Bought it at Home Depot in a 200 feet package.

    Spoilers: God Enel is next.
