Well well, looking at the credits, not only did Tomita return for the first time since that lame-o Stampede "hype" filler, but another one of our own members made the jump to working on One Piece officially. Congratulations Jakisuaki!

Tomita handled the scenes with Gyuukimaru towards the episode's very end and seeing him draw/animate something that doesn't have his characters look like they were dipped in glaze looks quite bizarre. You can still totally tell that it's him from how the characters move but even his work on the Stampede filler had traces of his usual highlights.

Though he's worked on both of Wano's openings it was a nice to see Masami Mori return to the actual anime for the first time since the legendary 870 (I thought I'd recognized his name in the credits but couldn't quite remember how it was supposed to be written at the time). Nothing earthshattering like his Yutaka Nakamura-inspired work there, but you can tell that the opening scenes of the Kawamatsu/Hiyori flashback had a little extra TLC compared to the (still good) rest.

Finally, putting aside the spectacle of Kaido vs. Big Mom (as I keep saying, One Piece is very lucky it doesn't air on a channel that's draconian with its dimming and ghosting measures) I actually really, really enjoyed the Queen scenes. Snappy timing, funny voice acting, and that whole bit felt very alive thanks to Queen's body constantly moving and emoting throughout when he'd be more static in other episodes.
