Regardless, Luffy being hailed as such a big shot by being oh-so special only makes it more obvious that Teach is the final villain as the one evil D who gradually rises in power.

Admittingly, some sort of Ancient Kingdom D Clan prophecy would fit better in this series than being as hypocritical as in Naruto since Luffy has always been remarkably special as a character. But I REALLY wouldn't care for it. Especially since One Piece's theme of inherited will is more nuanced and promoted through bonds and examples set by others than actual foresight. Oda can get away with it, but I wouldn't care for it.

Eh, this just adds to how I already don't like the coincidence of Luffy inheriting the Straw Hat from both a Yonko and the former Pirate King as if it's destiny for him to ascend to greatness.

I actually like how there is no "pirate uniform". It allows the series to look a lot less stereotypical and more creatively varied. Oda likes to test himself on how far he can go with making a pirate series without using as many conventional pirate elements as possible. Thus, when somebody like Teach or Crocodile show up who have big pirate-y design details, they make a much more memorable and cool impression. I love how none of the Straw Hats really look like pirates at all. And how Luffy's straw hat is sort of his own quirky pirate captain hat, which is easy to not think about.

I miss her cowgirl hat. I don't really see why Oda ditched it. And I definitely don't care for her Zou design either. And I liked her all-leather look in the Water 7 saga. The only facet I like about her post-timeskip design is the sunglasses, which fortunately look distinct from Franky's.

And you know what also irks me? The generic no-name pirates that look like stereotypical pirates with hats and beards. I wish those details were only saved for characters are major as Teach since they're big pirate cliches.
