Conversation Between Long John Silvers Rayleigh and Count Mario

  1. I can't see what Big Mom getting killed actually does for One Piece's plot. Shanks needs to die. Mihawk and the Red Hair Pirates could. Jozu and Marco could die if only to have their Devil Fruits stolen. And Kaido might die just because he is immortal and it would somehow be a happy ending for him. But Big Mom? I don't really see why. I wouldn't mind it, but I am talking about Oda's logic here. I want Big Mom's defeat to be a big deal instead of a background event, but it is very difficult to see how that can happen after this arc ends. Maybe we can see her get defeated by somebody at Elbaf. But I know that I don't want it to be Blackbeard. Blackbeard is going to eliminate two Yonko, he doesn't need a third. I want it to be the World Government.
  2. Yeah I feel like that is how it makes more sense, luffy declaring it gave me pause but I guess not all of his declarations carry the same weight, like comparing when he promised to beat up Jack to when he promised to beat Kaido. To tell you the truth though her being off-paneled by the marines or government doesn't sound super interesting. I think it'd be interesting if she actually did get assassinated but I mean I don't know who could do that besides CP-0 which works for the CD's, although honestly I think they have more autonomy than just that seeing how stussy's role was deep in the black market and caramel was in with the government. But I trust Oda could make an event like that more interesting and shocking than just "pedro reading from a newspaper again". There's value in hiding things but I think if this kind of antagonist was taken out we'd maybe get to see some of it, like how we saw with Ace-BB.
  3. They don't need to be expanded upon in significant ways. They're not even antagonists that we're getting 1v1 fights with. Their personalities are collectively being Big Mom's children in all honesty. The Charlottes COULD show up in Elbaf, but being antagonists there feels too repetitive, yes.

I expect us to get resolutions. There's no better time for everything to be solved than this arc.The only possible loose end for Elbaf might be the circumstances of Lola's marriage.
  4. Oh did not notice, whoops

    Yeah no problem

This arc has been harder to peg than most and the end of it has me curious. I'm doubting we'll get complete BM family resolutions here but with the focus on the BM pirates being strong here can we really go back to them. Even if they are at elbaf, say they allied with the "bad giants" or something to raise the stakes would that be too repetetive? I mean we havent seen any of smoothie or snack and the others can expand in really interesting ways, like Count Chicken or Gallete etc. But then isnt that overshadowing the giants a bit. OTOH luffy gave a declaration he'd do it after kaido. Then again pekoms is still on the crew and he's too nice of a guy for oda to let get beaten up by the strawhats and he's a loyal guy so It might be hard for him to leave, unless he starts the nox pirates up with revived pedro.

What do you think is happening in reegards to that cause im waffling hard hahaha
