Today is the day that so many North Americans had been anticipating for - the airing of the FUNimation adaptation of One Piece!

Check your schedules and catch it on Cartoon Network sometime at night.

They are starting off where 4Kids left off and (I think) are using their number system until they redub the episodes that 4Kids did. Remember around episodes 105-107, they were just breaking into Rain Dinners in Arabasta? Yeah...

  • Episode 105: Caught Log! King of Salvagers, Masira!

  • Episode 106: Monsters Appear! Don't Mess With the Whitebeard Pirates!

  • Episode 107: Quit Dreaming! Mock Town, the Town of Ridicule!

(These are episodes 144-146. Crazy, eh?)

Not sure what will become of the Edit List that I have had no motivation to work on. It's about the 4Kids version (a supposed mirror of the comparison site that you might've visited), so if for some reason there had to be a FUNimation page (which in the end, is most likely not necessary) we could perhaps split up the page into two sections which would require moving everything in "EditList" to something like "EditList/4Kids". Well, we'll see, but for now, just enjoy the new adaptation to One Piece! Thanks FUNimation (and Mato!) for everything!

FUNimation's One Piece Preview

Thanks to Myoti for the information!

There was a con today (Anime Weekend Atlanta). There, they showed 3 episodes of the FUNimation dub, which will officially air next Saturday. Myoti has confirmed the following:

  • Hikari e (opening 3) and Free Will (ending 9) have English lyrics.
  • Eyecatchers inbetween episodes are left in.

  • The One Piece logo is replaced (see the golden one at the FUNimation site).

  • Doc Q (Blackbeard Pirates' doctor) had an accent, but it was done well.
  • The Salvage/Saruveeji pun (Saru is "Monkey" in Japanese) couldn't be kept in.
  • Luffy's voice actor announces the titles of the episodes, like the original.
  • "To Be Continued" at the end of the episodes are kept.
  • Some things like Zolo and Trace are kept, but they will be changed back for the DVDs.
  • No cigarettes, but no lollipops either.
  • References to death, unedited firearms.

Thanks to Death-T for the additional information!

  • Episode previews are dubbed with original BGM, but Luffy doesn't say his line at the end of the previews.
  • The gold logo will be used on the DVDs, but can be changed back by switching "angles".
