Luffy Vs. Usopp
This is the event that took place between chapter 333-334. This is the dual between Luffy and Usopp over honor, belief and pride. Here, we will learn about the fight, the origin and the impact on the story.
Introduction
This is the most tragic event to happen in the series so far when two friends fought against each other. This is the frist time that a captain fought with a crew over beliefs, pride and honor. this dual started at chapter 333 and ended in 334. Here we will explore the backstory of the dual and how it affect the main plot of the series, to understand this dual; you have understand the reason.
Origin
Reason of the duel
This fight was over the decision on the ship, Going Merry that whoever wins keeps the ship. Going Merry is the Straw-Hat's pirate ship that was given to Luffy from Kaya from Syurp Village, East Blue where Usopp was born and grew up in. Merry, Kaya's bulter build this ship for Kaya but after Luffy saved the village from Kuro, Kaya awarded him the ship. Usopp on the other hand was going on his seperate way but Luffy invited him on board which Usopp became accepted and became part of the crew. This ship carries the Straw-Hat pirates over 12 locations from Syrup Village in the East Blue to Water 7 in the Grand Line. This ship went over the mountain and was shot up into the sky and came down from the sky. During the voyage, the ship stuffered heavy damages and was falling apart. Usopp also spents the rest of the series repairing the ship even if he is not a shipwight. Luffy also loves the ship, he enjoys sitting on the sheep figurehead and once remarked that the ship was their Nakama and their home and their lifeblood.
How did it started
After the adventure in Skypiea, Luffy decided to find a shipwight for the crew to take care of the ship and repair it. Even Usopp does the work but he is the sharpshooter as he admits that, thus they need someone who can take that job and they need a shipwight. Luffy then decided to find a shipyard to have their ship get a major repairs.
Long Ring Long Land
They landed in Long Ring Long Land, Luffy tries to find a shipwight in the Davy Back Fight game but later changed his mind. Aokiji also appears here after the game. Aokiji tries to kill Robin, Sanji, Zoro and Luffy tries to beat him but he manage to squash them like bugs in 1 minutes. This event shook Usopp so bad, he started to pounder on whatever should he remaind in the crew or not. He got upset with Zoro and Sanji for leaving Luffy behind when Luffy decided to fight Aokiji, after Usopp griped, Sanji got pissed off and yelled at Usopp to shut up and understand the one-on-one rule. After the battle he became worried that he'll start to face strong people like Aokiji. He sighed in relief and thanked his friends that he is not involuted in this situation.

Why did Usopp become Sogeking?
He does not want to jump out of the blue and say "Luffy! I'm back!" which will cheapen the dual. Think about it, these two just got in a huge fight and how unlikly that Usopp was force to watch his ship die and was dragged as a hostage to the Sea Train, and ends up getting rescued by Sanji who snucked on board and got news that Luffy is in the Rocketman heading their way. Imagine that Usopp after going through these situations, has to come face-to-face with someone who he fought with two days ago, that can hurt these two more. So Usopp wanted to worm his way back in the crew slowly without much commotion by degiusing himself. Of course Nami, Zoro, Sanji, Franky, Mos, Kiwi, Zambai, Robin, and Chimney knew it was Usopp but Chopper and Luffy did not know that. This give Usopp oppertutity to repair his friendship with Luffy and Chopper with went smoothly.
Effects of the Dual
How willl the Dual change Luffy and Usopp?
If they reunited, their friendship becomes stronger and their trust becomes strong.
Is their Friendship dead?
If friendship is weak then it's dead, but if Usopp and Luffy reunites, there friendship is alive. Like clay, you break it and put it fire and when it cools down, you reshape the clay. So far Sogeking(Usopp) is still with Luffy, which means there frienship is dead yet.
