History
Part I: The Known Facts
Eight hundred years ago the history of the world became a great blank slate. An entire century was lost to the world's textbooks, and even eight hundred years later the issues that caused that to come about remain shrouded in mystery. This is neither the time nor the place to discuss this, however, so we shall stick to some basic facts.
Eight hundred years ago, a single, mysterious country was obliterated from all known lore. Knowing that they were to die out, these people left behind texts that their enemies could not break. We call them Poneglyphs now.
- Four hundred years ago, the "Liar" Norland was executed for his alleged crimes against the King of Lyneel. At that same approximate time, half of Jaya was blown upwards by the Knock-Up Stream into the White Seas.
- Key among the points here is this: Twenty-two years ago, Gold Roger was put to death at Loguetown, the place of his birth. Before dying he announced that he had hidden all of his treasure "in that place," presumed as the Grand Line. That was the beginning of the Great Age of Piracy, which continues to this day.
