Pluton (プゥトン)

The ancient weapons are widely known to the World Government. Pluton was initially mentioned by Crocodile, one of the Shichibukai who was searching for this weapon in Alabasta. It was said to have the power to destroy the island and its people without leaving a trace behind.

Pluton was speculated as a ship or airship, but no one knows what it really looks like. Neither do they know when the weapon was made. However, since it's ancient, it was probably built thousands of years ago. It was first built in Water 7, the builders created a blueprint which was passed down from generation to generation until it was passed down to Tom. It was then shipped to Alabasta and hidden there. A poneglyph was left to tell it's location. Its blueprint was later on burnt by Franky.

Both Crocodile and Spandam were after Pluton. Crocodile took over Alabasta in the search of it in hopes of creating a military nation. Spandam wanted it to control all nations.

Pluton is a roman name which was spelled commonly as "Pluto". Pluto, or Hades, in Greek, was the god of the underworld and the name of the last planet in the Solar System. Oda is known for using names of planets, minerals, holidays and etc. for the names of his characters and objects. He loves to use foreign terms and names associated with other stories, myth and legends.
