Commodore Puddin' Puddin' was a Marine Officer who patroled the waters of East Blue. A member of the Marine's 77th Platoon, he was dispatched by his superiors at the Marine Headquarters to disband the Arlong Pirate Gang from East Blue and neutralize their threat to world stability. His primary mission objective, however, was to rescue the surviving Cocoyashi villagers, who had managed to transmit their plea for help to the Marine Headquarters in Grand Line. Although a Commodore, Puddin' Puddin' is a product of the Blue Seas and lacks the expert training of the Marine Headquarters; as such, he is in control of a smaller strike force, limited only to a single warship.
Puddin' Puddin's fateful excursion to Arlong Park occurs shortly before the arrival of the Straw Hat Pirates. Arlong is notified of Puddin' Puddin's arrival but pays him no mind, until the arrogant Puddin' Puddin', confident in his abilities to squash Arlong's presence, declares a volley of cannonfire on Arlong Park. One cannonball is harmlessly caught in Arlong's jaws, which is then crushed; annoyed, Arlong orders his three officers Hatchi, Kurobi, and Chuu to eradicate Puddin' Puddin.
With a superior knowledge of the underwater terrain surrounding Arlong Park, as charted by Nami, as well as due to their incredible physical strength and mobility underwater, the three easily overpower the Marines. Puddin' Puddin' is wounded by a Water Bullet spat at him by Chuu, who distracts the terrified Marines while Kurobi and Hatchi damage the hull and remove the kneel. Disabled, Puddin' Puddin' and his crew die when their vessel is drawn into an artificial maelstrom (whirpool) created by Hatchi and Kurobi, and to this day the broken remains of the ship and the bodies of the sailors rest at the bottom of the sea.
