You might be a Cid Highwind (FF7) ripoff, WHEN...!!

Paulie, also spelled "Pauly" by some, is a top-rate shipwright of the Galley-La Company, whose primary talent is rigging and masts... That's fitting because he has a special fighting style in his "Rope Action" rope-management techniques! Actually, according to Oda, Paulie keeps a long length of ropes underneath his clothing, so he's very well-prepared for his tasks.

Having grown in the care of the famed Iceburg-san, this shipwright is, perhaps, the closest to him of the five First Dock foremen. When he first hears of an attack on Iceburg at his home, Paulie goes ballistic (mildly putting it), and rushes for Galley-La HQ. What happens in the next few hours has gone down in One Piece history as one of THE biggest cliffhangers in the series... It was a long wait after 345's revelations!

Even if he isn't the strongest of the foremen or the smartest, Paulie still has plenty of spirit. He can be sensical, but he can also give way to his emotions, even going so far as to dig in under the World Government's nails...

Paulie's Past

We don't really know much on Paulie's history, save that Iceburg took him in young and trained him as a top-rate shipwright. Whether or not that history will be expounded upon is a point of debate, hinging mainly on who will join the Strawhats. He was, interestingly, there to see the Sea Express "Puffing Tom" first run, which inspired him to become a shipwright.
