Mr. 9 was the partner of Ms. Wednesday (aka Nefertari Vivi) in the criminal organization known as Baroque Works. He first encountered the Straw Hats in the stomach of the whale, Laboon. At the time the Straw Hats were not aware of the team's affiliation. At Whiskey Peak, he, along with his partner and Mr. 8, fought Roronoa Zoro. Mr. 9 was easily defeated. Later, when the Mr. 5 pair tried to kidnap Vivi, he stayed behind to stall them while she escaped. Mr. 5 easily disposed of him with his Bomu Bomu no Mi.
