Gin was first introduced as a simple pirate under the famed Don Krieg, lord of East Blue, but in truth he's a high-ranking officer whose power and prestige is second only to Krieg's own. He first appeared on the Baratie by breaking out of Lieutenant Fullbody's brig, beating down several Naval officers and shooting down another. An impressive feat when taking into account that he'd not eaten for days.

In battle Gin is deserving of his demonic nickname. Swinging around his weighted tonfa, he can break iron without breaking a sweat. He's quick, strong, tough and, most importantly, ruthless.

As far as personality goes Gin is a mixed bag. Even if he first appears brutal and heartless he still maintains his humanity, adhering to his own code of honor (much like Sanji).

Gin's Past

For whatever reason, Gin came to believe that his Don was the mightiest man alive. Gin is absolutely devoted to Krieg, going so far as to throw himself to the Navy's dogs to aid in the captain's escape shortly after the Grand Line incident with Mihawk.
