Coby is a very unlucky boy who met Luffy in our hero's first adventure. He was once a slave to the lady pirate Alvida the Club before Luffy whipped her with a Pistol punch and took him to Shelltown's Marine Base. There he played a role in the events which transpired, and so was seen as a hero by the townspeople just as Luffy and Zoro were.
He was the subject of the second cover story, and is currently training under Vice Admiral Garp with his one-time enemy Helmeppo.
Recently, he appeared in Enies Lobby with Helmeppo and Vice-Admiral Garp, looking significantly more mature. He, along with a heightened Marine rank, had learned some Rokuishi (Helmeppo was now skilled in swordplay), and the two attacked Luffy and Zoro. Coby, after reminiscing with Luffy, declared that he would become powerful enough to capture Luffy before he made it to Raftel.
Coby's Past
One day, two years ago, Coby went out on what he expected to be a fishing trip. The problem is that he got in the wrong boat, Alvida's, and so was forced into servitude.
