In-Depth Summary

The episode begins with Nami weakly saying to Sanji and Luffy that they must head to Arabasta soon. Sanji and Luffy stand up to the lapahn, and Sanji tells Luffy that he can't attack them because the shock will transfer to Nami and harm her. The lapahn then unleash their fury, and Luffy struggles to avoid each swing. Sanji struggles to kick away the lapahn, but because of the snow he has difficulty. Luffy runs into the woods as Sanji struggles to fend them off. Luffy and Sanji flee from the lapahn, trying to shake. Sanji and Luffy bound over a lapahn and onto a higher plain, but just find more lapahn going for them. Usopp and Vivi worriedly watch the mountain, hoping for Nami's safety, and Dalton asks exactly who Vivi and Usopp are. Dalton finds the small size of their crew odd. Usopp mentions that they wanted a doctor to join the crew, but they weren't expecting the only doctor in the country to be a witch. At that moment, the large woman from before walks up and asks them if they are looking for Dr. Kureha. She mentions that Kureha was spotted at Cocoaweed, the next town. Vivi and Usopp cry out that they just missed the witch doctor.

In Cocoaweed, an ill boy named Tamachibi won't stop crying, bothering the customers of a shop. Dr. Kureha and Chopper arrive, and Kureha busts down the door with her fist. The people are shocked to see Kureha, and she offers to fix up Tamachibi for them. When her offer is turned down, she and Chopper start to leave. Meanwhile, Dalton, Vivi, and Usopp ride in a drawn carriage at full speed toward Cocoaweed, and Vivi worries that they won't be able follow Sanji and Luffy up to the mountain so as to get Nami healed. Usopp says that they'll just have to ask Kureha to return to her castle immediately. Dalton apologizes for the lack of doctors in the country. In the shop, Kureha starts examining Tamachibi, giving odd pain tests. She shows that Tamachibi has a bacterial infection in his leg, and so is able to treat it because it was in the early stages. Kureha says that she wants fifty percent of the shop's assets for compensation, angering the people there. Tamachibi then says how he feels much better now, so Kureha smiles and lowers it to forty-nine percent. She heads out the door with Chopper, telling Tamachibi to stay happy.

On the Going Merry, Zoro is freezing from standing in the water, and he tells Carue to come down with him, but Carue refuses. Carue looks twice and sees that Zoro is missing, worried that Zoro has drowned. However, Zoro was simply looking for fish underwater. Meanwhile, on the trail, Sanji and Luffy encounter even more lapahn. On the road to Cocoaweed, Usopp asks who Dalton is, since Dalton doesn't act like a normal villager. Dalton explains that he was Wapol's subordinate in the past. He explains how he was Captain of the Guard for the former king, but when the king died, his son Wapol took over, who was a terrible king. Dalton explains when Wapol decided to exile the doctors of the country, which he decided so that when people fell ill, there would be no one left to oppose him. Dalton explains that medical treatment became very expensive in those times, making Vivi very angry. On a trail on the other side of some trees, Kureha and Chopper are on their way in the other direction, unbeknownst to Dalton, Usopp, and Vivi. Zoro wades through the snow, freezing, and finds that he is lost. He comes across Kureha in her sleigh drawn by Chopper, and he asks Kureha to give him a ride to the nearest town. When Zoro calls Kureha a crazy old lady, Kureha knocks him away and takes off with Chopper. Zoro decides to do some training to warm himself up.

Meanwhile, Wapol's ship has landed, and Chess and Kuromarimo knock down the townspeople on guard. Wapol declares that it is time to return to his castle, since he is done being a pirate. One of Wapol's crew points out the Going Merry docked nearby, and Wapol is furious that Luffy is in his country. Wapol orders that the Straw Hats be killed immediately. Chess and Kuromarimo explain that the Straw Hats probably headed to Bighorn, and so Wapol declares they head that way. In Cocoaweed Village, Vivi, Dalton, and Usopp are shocked to find out that Kureha has already left. They learn that Kureha headed for Gyasta, which is on the opposite side of Bighorn, so they went right past her again. As they prepare to leave for Gyasta, an injured villager stumbles in, collapsing to the ground. He explains that the guards were decimated by Wapol's forces, declaring that Wapol has returned. Dalton, filled with rage, immediately runs out the door, riding on his horse with all speed toward Wapol. As he rides, he begins transforming into a massive bison, leaping off of his horse and galloping with all speed. Meanwhile, Sanji and Luffy are horrified to learn that the lapahn are starting to cause an avalanche as the episode ends.
