Short Summary
As the Straw Hats head for an island with a doctor to heal Nami, they come across Wapol and his pirate crew. Wapol attacks but Luffy sends him flying away. On Smoker's ship, Smoker intercepts a call from Mr. 0, and he learns that his captive, Mr. 11, is from Baroque Works. The next day, the Straw Hats arrive on Drum Island but find the inhabitants to be hostile. In the process, Vivi is shot.
In-Depth Summary
The episode begins with Vivi and Sanji by Nami's bed, Vivi saying that Nami has to see a doctor immediately. On the deck, Usopp and Luffy are in disbelief in seeing Chess standing on the water. At that moment, a great round submarine rises up beneath Chess' feet. The metal sides of it roll away, revealing a big round pirate ship, the ship of the Wapol Pirates, the Bliking. The Straw Hats gape at the sheer amount of crewmembers on the ship. The Wapol Pirates move onto the ship, surrounding Sanji, Luffy, Usopp, and Zoro, pointing rifles at them. Wapol steps onto the Going Merry, eatnig a piece of meat off of a knife and then eating the knife. Wapol says that they're heading to the Drum Kingdom, asking if the Straw Hats have an Eternal Pose on them. Wapol then says that they'll be leaving, but says that they'll be taking all their treasure first. Wapol then bites a huge chunk out of the ship's deck, eating it. Sanji and Zoro decide to spring into action as the Wapol Pirates open fire. Standing on the Bliking are Kuromarimo and Chess, surprised that the Straw Hats are fighting back. Sanji and Zoro kick and slash their way through many of the pirates, Luffy quickly joining the fray. Luffy goes right for Wapol, but Wapol chomps down on him.
As Vivi steps out onto the deck, Luffy stretches his arms way out, readying an attack on Wapol. Wapol notes on how Luffy is very chewy, but Luffy uses Gomu Gomu no Bazooka, sending Wapol spitting out Luffy and flying through the air. The Wapol Pirates gape at what Luffy did to Wapol, so they climb into the ship, Kuromarimo and Chess swearing revenge on the Straw Hats. With that, the Bliking turns tail and run. Sanji, Zoro, Usopp, and Luffy wonder about who the pirates were, and Vivi notes how Wapol looks familiar.
The scene shifts to several days earlier, on Smoker's ship. Tashigi marvels over her sword as Smoker calls her out onto the deck to listen to a Black Wiretap Den Den Mushi. The message has Mr. 0 talking, and "Straw Hat" and "Princess Vivi" are heard in the transmission. Smoker suggests that Mr. 11, who the recently captured, may have something to do with Mr. 0's criminal organization, so he asks Mr. 11 about the orders in his pocket. Mr. 11 is shocked, as he was sure he burned the orders, and he starts stuttering about them. Smoker says that there wasn't anything in Mr. 11's pocket, tricking Mr. 11 into confessing being in Baroque Works. Smoker then orders an Eternal Pose to Arabasta as their ship continues on.
As the sun sets, Nami is still labored in her breathing, and Luffy suggests that Nami eat a bunch of meat to get better. He tries making funny faces to make her smile, then suggests throwing water on her to wake her up, prompting Vivi and Sanji to kick him away. Late that evening, with Vivi asleep beside Nami's bed, Nami wakes up. She sees all of the Straw Hats asleep on the floor, except for Sanji, who is on watch duty in the crow's nest. Nami smiles and goes back to sleep.
The next morning, Usopp is up making repairs to the damage Wapol caused. Luffy continues trying to make Nami laugh, and Zoro asks what Luffy's doing. He jumps back when he sees how Luffy painted his face. Outside, Sanji asks Usopp if he notices how it's been cold every day. Vivi steps out and says that it means they must be close to a Winter Island. She explains how there are four types of islands, Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Spring Islands, and how they each have their own kinds of seasons. Because so many islands are close to each other, it is impossible for the Grand Line's climate to be stable. With that, Sanji spots an island on the horizon. Luffy runs out to the front of the ship, noting how white the island looks. Sanji and Usopp remind Luffy of the goal - to find a doctor. Usopp starts worrying about snow monsters, claiming to get Must-Not-Go-To-The-Next-Island Disease. As the ship drifts toward the coast, they find the shores lined with angry looking townspeople, all armed with rifles. Dalton steps forward, telling the Straw Hats to leave immediately because they are pirates. When Sanji speaks up, one person fires at him, but Vivi steps in the way, being shot instead. The Straw Hats watch in horror as Vivi starts to fall, ending the episode.
