In-Depth Summary

The episode opens with Buggy and Alvida sailing together, and Alvida asks Buggy where he is going. Buggy replies that he wants to find and regain his crew, and wonders where they are. It just so happens that after Buggy's defeat, the Buggy Pirates left aboard their ship with Buggy's body parts bundled, and when they realize Captain Buggy isn't there, they bemoan their missing captain. Mohji and Cabaji sat at the front of the ship, vowing their revenge on Luffy and Zoro respectively. Back aboard the Going Merry, Luffy tells Zoro that he'll catch a cold if he just lies out on the deck. Zoro replies he doesn't get colds, and Luffy realizes he doesn't get sick either. Usopp then puts the finishing touches on a concoction that ends up blowing up in his face. A map then flutters onto his face, showing the island that the Buggy Pirates have arrived on. There, the crew puts up a sign with Buggy's picture on, mourning the loss of their captain. Cabaji declares that as second to Buggy, he will bring the crew back to their former glory, which Mohji argues, because as Vice-Captain he figures he should take over. The two decide to settle the matter in a fight, so the crew sets up a fighting ring where the two square off.

As Ritchie announces the start of the match, Cabaji uses Steamy Murder Case, blowing dust in Mohji's face, and so comes down from above. Mohji thrusts up his whip, and as the two clash, Cabaji's sword and Mohji's whip fall to pieces. The two decide to end the fight with just their fists, and so they fight. As the sun sets, the crew eats a hearty meal as Mohji and Cabaji continue to fight. At last, they both punch each other at the same time. While this happens, the crew is asleep. Ritchie dreams about being captain of the Buggy Pirates, as they encounter a big fiery dragon at sea. Ritchie triumphs over the dragon as the crew celebrates. While Cabaji and Mohji stand at a deadlock, Ritchie walks up to them in his sleep and knocks them both out. Ritchie is then declared winner and the new captain of the Buggy Pirates. Just as they are celebrating, the crew is approached by the Kumate Tribe, a group of people native to the island wearing purple body paint. Ritchie stands up to them, but is swiftly knocked down, and so the whole crew is decimated by the tribe.

At sea, Buggy spots the island with binoculars, seeing his ship, and so they head there. Buggy sees his grave, mistaking Alvida's words as he thinks she is making fun of his nose. Buggy finds the battered Cabaji and Mohji, asking them what happened, but they can't recall. Alvida sees a spear and recognizes it as belonging to the Kumate Tribe, explaining the fate of Buggy's crew. Sure enough, the Kumate Tribe had gathered together the Buggy Pirates and put them in a large cooking pot. The pirates cry out that they do not taste good. One of the tribesmen starts looking at Buggy's spare body parts, considering them for the meal, but they start coming together, reforming into Buggy's body, minus the hands, feet, and head. Buggy's body starts kicking around the tribesmen, knocking over the pot and freeing his crew. The Buggy Pirates then look up to see their beloved Captain Buggy, along with Alvida, Mohji, and Cabaji, standing atop a tall peak. Buggy uses Bara Bara Flashy Reassemble to reform his body to normal, and so, complete once again, he charges down the peak with his three friends.

With a series of Bara Bara attacks, Buggy makes quick work of the Kumate Tribe. As his crew celebrates his momentous return, Buggy thinks back on his adventure, realizing that all of his troubles were due to Luffy. The pirates ask about Alvida, and Buggy explains that she is the woman who saved his life, though realizes she never told him her name. Afterward, the Buggy Pirates set sail with Alvida, and Buggy declares that they are sailing for Monkey D. Luffy's head. Back at the Going Merry, Luffy spots the next island they are coming up to. Nami explains that it is the island with Loguetown on it. Sanji says that he'll need some fresh food, while Zoro says he'll need to visit a weapon store because he only has one sword. Together, the Straw Hats sail for Loguetown as the episode draws to a close.

Mumbo230’s Notes

Take note of when the Buggy Pirates first sail to the island of the Kumate Tribe, a cloud in the sky looks like Buggy's face. Also, Alvida's name is not actually revealed in this episode, but revealed later during the Loguetown arc.
