Episode 200: Luffy and Sanji's Determination! The Great Escape Plan!

The episode begins, after an obligatory recap of Episode 199, with a briefing of a group of Marines, who are ordered to arrest any unidentified person on sight. At the same time, the Marine shipworkers chat on the Going Merry about how the pirate could have stolen another ship. The old man, Mekao, inspects the ship and walks off disgruntedly. Sanji and Luffy sneak around the ship looking for the rest of the gang. Sanji reasons they're in the brig, but they don't know where it is. Luffy notes that the "bellybutton" island looks suspicious. Sanji points out that they have to get to that island to escape. A Marine then walks by, and they disappear into the vents.

Elsewhere, a Marine carrying some cargo bumps into an unidentified person, presumably the real Commander Shepherd, who is promptly arrested. Concurrently, Robin continues her research, finds something, and notes that she's being watched. Shepherd is locked up in the brig with Usopp and Zoro. Usopp quickly realizes who he is and talks to him like he is a pirate named Condoriano. Shepherd tries to deny it, but Usopp continues the farce, worried that Condoriano got amnesia from the fall. As a result, the Marines buy Usopp's story and leaves Condoriano in the cell. As Shepherd yells for his release, Zoro headbutts Condoriano and knocks him out. Sanji and Luffy emerge from the vents as Drake reports to Jonathan that no pirates have been sighted. Jonathan states that they're looking for the brig and suggests guiding them to it in hopes of an ambush. Sanji and Luffy arrive outside the brig as a Marine reports to Jonathan the capture of a Straw Hat named Condoriano, who claimed to be Shepherd. Sanji and Luffy descend to infiltrate the brig.

Usopp and Zoro feel an uneasiness as someone descends the stairs. Drake and a squadron of Marines wait in ambush. They move and capture Mekao. When asked by Drake, he says that he wants to find out something. When released, he goes to ask Usopp a question. Usopp asks about the ship, and Mekao states it's fine for now. Mekao then advises Usopp to repair the ship with splices next time. Usopp then tells him about how it was mysteriously repaired in a place called Sky Island. As Usopp regales Mekao with tales of Sky Island, Drake gets agitated, but after a short while, Mekao asks if the mystery repairman appeared "in a mist late at night." Usopp confirmed it and then asked if Mekao knew the man, but before Mekao could answer, Drake had him hoisted away. Mekao managed to impart one last bit of wisdom to Usopp about repairs: Check the places you least see, for they will need most repair.

Sanji and Luffy spot Mekao as he leaves the brig. They don't know it's the brig yet, but Sanji gets a strange vibe from the place and their path. He points out that they faced no guards whatsoever and surmises that the Marines led them to this spot, meaning it's a trap. Luffy points out that they'll have to go in there anyway, and Sanji, worried about the rest of the crew, goes with it. As they enter the brig, Luffy announces his arrival by yelling for Zoro and Usopp. Usopp guides them to his cell, and they all meet up, but as Luffy touches the cell, he weakens. Usopp concludes the bars are made of Kairouseki, a material that weakens those who have eaten the devil's fruit. Drake then moves to capture them. He has them flanked when Sanji starts kicking the bars. A Marine comments that the cage can withstand a cannon's fire; then Usopp gets an idea. He tells Sanji to take the Impact Dial from him. Sanji takes it and readies it to bust the cage, but they find out it's a Voice Dial. The Impact Dial was in Usopp's other pocket and Sanji takes it. Again, he readies it, but this time, it's a Flavor Dial, a fart-smelling one at that. However, the farts ignite the lanterns, causing explosions. The explosions set of the alarm, and the Marines outside mobilize. The explosions destroy the cell, and everyone is free. They grab their effects and run. Usopp jokes that Zoro shouldn't lead, as they'll get lost. The Marines who survived the explosions give chase to the gang, but they lose them, or rather, Zoro got them lost. Drake reports to Jonathan, and Jonathan asks if they have all escaped. Drake answers that Condoriano was left behind. Jonathan consoles Drake. The Marines in the Library leave, and Robin realizes the boys have escaped.
