Episode 198: Zoro's Imprisonment and Chopper's Emergency Operation!
After a recap of recent events up till Zoro's capture, the episode opens with Jonathan discussing Zoro's capture with Drake and what to do next. He charges Drake with Zoro's interrogation and sets off to monitor the mess hall, where they predict the pirates will eventually wind up. Meanwhile, Zoro is locked up in a cell and goes to take a nap when Drake appears to interrogate him. Drake tersely yells at Zoro to divulge their attack plan, and Zoro responds by stating they fell from the sky and came from Heaven, chronicling all outlandish yet true details. Drake doesn't buy Zoro's story or attitude and resorts to torture and threats.
Meanwhile, Nami, still in disguise, is assigned to clean a rather large dojo alone. She begins to doubt her disguise. In another corridor, three Marines walk past some barrels gossiping about Zoro's capture. After they pass, Chopper, having overheard them, emerges from the barrels and tries to escape when he is spotted by some Marines. They give chase and pass by Nami, who hides in a nearby room. She then notices another disguise in there. Chopper runs to a dead end, but manages to open a door leading to a large room. The Marines follow, and they see an antler sticking out of a crate, but it turns out to be a crate of antlers. Chopper was hiding behind that crate when two more Marines come for the crate, as they need the antlers for medicine. Chopper has no choice but to hide in the crate. The sick Marines aboard the Stan Malay are to be carried to the Medical Room. A resident doctor studies a procedure and faints at the sight of blood. She prays for no patients when the two marines deliver the crate of antlers to her. Chopper sticks his head out, sees a skeleton, holds back a scream, and ducks back into the crate.
The scene turns to Nami, wearing a new, feminine Marine uniform. She soon finds out it's a nurse uniform as a group of nurses run past and drag her to the infirmary. They report to Dr. Kobata and announce the arrival of the Stan Malay patients. Kobata tries to refuse, stating she's a pediatrician and she can't handle trauma, but the nurses drag her off. Chopper sticks his head out and remarks on the situation.
In the infirmary, the Marines from the Stan Malay are being treated to, and even Nami bandages a Marine. Nearby, some nurses ask Kobata to operate, and she passes out again at the sight of blood. Chopper sees this and takes charge while transformed and wearing a disguise. He gives orders and the nurses follow. He then sends critical patients to the Operating Room. He tries to wake Kobata when Nami recognizes him. Kobata then wakes up and thanks Chopper for taking care of the patients, all the while not knowing that they're pirates. Chopper insists more must be done in the OR, but Kobata faints again, stating how she can't cope with blood and such. As they discuss her dilemma, Nami tries to get Chopper to escape; however, Chopper then recalls the story of Dr. Hiriluk and uses it to inspire Kobata to operate. As she comes around, Chopper offers to help treat the patients. Nami tries to get him to leave, but Chopper, being the doctor he is, cannot leave sick patients untreated, no matter who they are. Nami threatens to leave without him, but then the nurses announce the OR is ready, and Kobata heads in valiantly. Chopper follows, not caring if Nami leaves without him. Naturally, Nami has to stay.
The three of them enter the OR. One of the guards wonders if Chopper's one of their doctors. Chopper directs the surgery while Kobata performs it. Chopper encourages an initially shaky Kobata, who operates masterfully. Nami aids Kobata. Word of an unidentified doctor operating reaches Drake, who suspects him a pirate. He heads to the OR to try to find this doctor, but Kobata doesn't cooperate, as she is more worried about the patients undergoing emergency surgery. When Drake hears this, he presses his search further, but Kotaba tells him off. As a result, Drake leaves, ordering a watch on the OR. Chopper and Kobata resume operating until all critical patients underwent surgery. Chopper then transforms back to normal and congratulates Kobata. She calls him a tanuki without noticing anything strange about it.
The scenes shifts to Jonathan walking down a hall and Sanji still works in the mess hall. As Luffy burns himself, they start to argue about why they're still in the mess hall. Jessica walks in, and Sanji swoons. Jessica then leaves 300 onions to chop and Sanji swoons some more. Luffy then realizes that Sanji is the reason they're still in the mess hall. The episode ends with Jonathan walking somewhere.
