Episode 196: Emergency Announcement! An Infamous Pirate Ship Has Invaded!

The episode starts off one evening with three Marine officers singing the praises of the impregnable Marine Stronghold G8. One of the officers mentions that the other Marine divisions have contempt for G8, citing the extreme lack of pirate attacks as reason for their lengthy inactivity. Another officer writes him off, and they continue singing. The scene then shifts to a shipyard, a group of Marine workers chatter while repairing a dilapidated Marine ship. As they casually get to work, they see a ship fall out of the sky. They inform the rest of the base, and the alarms go off.

The Marines then scramble to their posts to fight the imposing threat. They find out that the ship is not only a pirate ship, but it's the ship of the infamous Straw Hat Pirates. They get set to attack when one Lieutenant Drake walks in and looks for a Commander Jonathan, who is out fishing. After a quick shot of the Going Merry in the line of fire, the scene shifts to the Marine Kitchen, where the chefs are rapidly cooking. One chef, who mentions something of an attack, gets chastised by Jessica, the head chef, who then wallops another chef for insulting her. Commander Jonathan then walks into Drake's office and states his whereabouts. A petty officer then walks in and gives a report of the witnesses debriefing, in which they gave varied accounts of the invasion, calling it a ghost ship which fell out of the sky. Drake disbelieves everything when Jonathan confirms that the ship fell out of the sky.

The Marines board the Going Merry and begin thoroughly investigating the ship. One marine finds ancient treasure. During the search, a Southbird calls out. Jonathan insults it, and it assaults him. The Marines continues searching and Jonathan then calls the crew to attention, labeling the ship as a ghost ship. He then deducts that the ship has recently been to Jaya. He also says, "Without knowing the Straw Hats' intentions, we can't announce there's been an infiltration." Jonathan calls for defense setup rather than apprehending the crew, claiming that neither the Pirates nor the Marines will take actions at night.

The scene then turns to the whereabouts of the Straw Hat Pirates. Chopper hides in a forest, Zoro is almost run over by a ship, and Nami hides in a cornfield avoiding two passing Marines. Sanji hides in a tree and is almost shot while lighting up to smoke. Luffy, however, stands in front of some entrances and complains of hunger. Usopp and Robin are together in an open field. Robin eavesdrops on the Marines aboard the ship using Oreja Fleurs (Ear Flowers). She discovers that the Marines think the Going Merry is a ghost ship. Usopp takes offense to it, but Robin restrains him from doing anything rash. She then scares the Marines with Oreja Fleurs.

Jonathan goes over the evidence to deduce who's on board the ship. Chopper then gets lost inside the Marine base and is almost caught, but creates a diversion. Zoro gets out of the water and is lost. Nami goes to higher ground and surveys the situation. Robin and Usopp prepare to enter the base. Luffy, however, is already in the base and is tailing a Marine. Sanji is close behind. Jonathan mulls over the situation more and states that G8 is not to be taken lightly.
