Episode 137: How's That for Profit? Money Lender Zenny's Ambition!
The Straw Hat Pirates and the goats continue construction on the pirate ship with hopes to complete it. When asked why he built the ship, Zenny answers that it's not a ship but rather his coffin.
Meanwhile, at the Marine HQ, the Commanding Officer finally tells Captain Moore about the Straw Hat Pirates and the island, and Moore sends the fleet to storm the island to capture them. The Commanding Officer, Sergeant Minchi, suggests an alterative plan of attack, and the action goes back to the island, where Zenny beats Nami at chess. After Luffy, Zoro, and Usopp return with food, Zoro then realizes that "three days" was quite some time ago, and questions Chopper's diagnosis. The men agree to leave, but Nami gambled away the ship in a game of chess and Zenny demands the crew work for it back, but shortly after, Robin beats Zenny at chess. Zenny laughs and then declares a party be held that night.
When Nami tries to find out about the treasure, Zenny states that the goats are his treasure, and then he reveals that he used to lend money to pirates on the Grand Line. He spoke of his business and his dream, which was actually to become the Pirate King. He loaned money to pirates to finance his dream. One day, Zenny collected a loan from some pirates, but then they destroyed his ship and he made it to the island, where he's been for 20 years. He built a ship to head to the Grand Line, but by the time he finished, he was too old. Luffy tells him he's not too old, and a drunken Zenny seems to buy into it. Meanwhile, Minchi plots to get the treasure by luring out the Straw Hat Pirates, having Moore fight them, and sneaking onto the island to get the treasure. Back at the island, everyone but Zenny and Robin sleep, and they discuss their futures. In the morning, Chopper informs everyone but Zenny and Robin that the Marines have landed.
It's only Minchi, and he has no intentions of fighting the Straw Hat Pirates. He claims he wants to explore the island, and when Nami says that there's only an old man and some goats there, Minchi drops the name "Zenny," and Nami gets suspicious. Minchi suggests they all leave. Zenny spots the Marines and realizes it's a trap. After Minchi suggests leaving again, Luffy questions his motives and Nami points out the name-dropping and realizes Minchi's after the treasure and immediately. A fleet of Marine ships are revealed. Moreover, the Corporal captures Usopp, and Zenny decides to sail the ship down the mountain, arriving just as Minchi gives the order to shoot.
