Episode Recap
The beginning recap scenes of the last episode; Luffy explaining Crocodile his reason to fight and Pell’s sacrifice in carrying the bomb away from Alubarna.
After the huge blast coming from the bomb ends, the mugiwara pirates are in disbelief that he gave his life up. Unfortunately, the blast did not hinder the rebels’ and guards’ will to fight one another, and the two groups get up and continue their fight. Tashigi asks herself why they continue fighting in this madness. Vivi’s pleas for them to stop fighting go unnoticed. In order to help Vivi in her cause, Nami gets the men to interfere in the fight in order to save as many lives as they can.
Meanwhile, Crocodile laughs as he believes that this is the beginning of a new era as well as his belief that the country is his. Looking behind him, he notices that Luffy has gotten up. Using what strength he has, he manages to draw out the words, “You.... Can’t... defeat me....” Crocodile throws it off as a bluff as Luffy declares that he will be the man who will become the Pirate King. Crocodile explains to Luffy that as Luffy gets to know the sea more, the more he’ll know not to make such impudent statements.
Crocodile advances to Luffy, preparing to stab Luffy with his hook, but Luffy manages to dodge and use his foot to smash Crocodile’s left arm to the ground, breaking his hook. Luffy then declares another statement: that he will be the man that will surpass him.
[Commercial break]
Luffy begins beating up Crocodile. After the onslaught, Crocodile wonders where Luffy is drawing his strength, as the Scorpion Poison should’ve taken affect. In place of his hook, a knife shoots out of where his hook was. He advances, asking Luffy this: “You’re just some kid that showed out of nowhere. JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM!?” Dodging the attack, Luffy proclaims, “I don’t give a shit who you are. I WILL SURPASS YOU!” and kicks Crocodile in the air. In the air, Crocodile decides to destroy the temple along with Luffy and uses Sables Pesado (Sables: French for Sand; Pesado: Spanish for Heavy) in order to cripple the temple’s foundations even further.
Unphased by the attack, Luffy begins inhaling air similarly to his Gomu Gomu no Fuusen appearance. He then continues to twist himself, with Crocodile wondering what he’s doing. Luffy begins releasing the air, sending him rapidly higher towards Crocodile. He prepares a punch, calling out, “Gomu Gomu no...” with Crocodile, in defense, preparing with Desert La Spada (La Spada: Italian for blades) and Luffy using “STORM!” and breaking through Desert La Spada and begins pummeling Crocodile until he gets to the surface. In amazement, King Cobra comments that the thing that stood between the surface and their current location was pure bedrock.
Meanwhile, in the skirmish between the guards and rebels, the mugiwara pirates notice that Crocodile is in the air, realizing that Luffy won his fight. The fight continues, but Kohza realizes that it’s beginning to rain. The soldiers slowly realize such as the rain suppresses the smoke. Vivi’s cry is heard among the people. Crocodile comes crashing down, with the people wondering how he fell down there. As the rain pours, Vivi states, “The rain, just as it is falling... Just as it always has... will fall again. The nightmare... has finally ended!” In the temple, Cobra gives his thanks to Luffy, who replies, “No problem”.
