Episode 44: Fantastic Voyage

• Clip Edit •

Since the Apis arc is gone, half to episode 61 is gone. Thankfully, I guess, the dub starts after the commercial break in the original.

• Dialogue Edit •

Luffy goes up to see Sanji and Zoro and kinda annoy them a bit. Sanji kicks him for that, so Luffy bothers Zoro offscreen while Nami's looking at the map. It's quiet in the dub.

Right after, instead of whistling, Usopp talks while he controls the helm.

• Clip Edit •

After Usopp realizes that the helm got stuck, a scene from later on is inserted here before Nami slams down the map on the table. The clouds get dark and it begins to rain on Going Merry, it originally happens much later when Sanji tells the crew that half of the people who want to get into the Grand Line die trying.

A group shot of everyone while Nami talks about the map is missing (main highlight in this scene is Usopp having a ton of trouble with the helm). It happens later in the dub.

Same with a close up of Zoro commenting about the map being previously owned by Buggy, it happened later in the dub while this came after the above.

Usopp makes enough noise to get Nami's attention, who then tells Sanji to help him in the same scene. But then, the helm won't budge.. (that part is put to happen later on) Nami looks up to ask Usopp to repeat what he said. After he tells her that the current's too strong, Nami goes back to her map, which is the group shot of her in the middle, Luffy in the right, and Zoro in the left, which is the scene that is used after Nami points at how they're going to enter the Reverse Mountain. Scenes are unaltered up until after Nami comments about Luffy when he says that Reverse Mountain is a Mystery Mountain.

• Dialogue Edit •

No mention of Reverse Mountain being a Winter Island which kind of explains why the currents move as they do.

One of Luffy's characteristics, calling anything weird "mysterious", isn't in the dub.

After saying it was a Mystery Mountain, Luffy laughed, "Ha. Ha. Ha." but instead he was saying that it's going to be tough, real tough.

• Clip Edit •

After Nami kinda sighs at Luffy, insert the scene that was mentioned earlier. The main highlight of the scene being Usopp having trouble with the helm.

• Dialogue Edit •

During the above scene, dubbed Nami mentions everything being useless unless they had a thing called a Grand Compass.. a.k.a., Log Pose. At this point though, Nami or anyone on Going Merry don't know about the Log Pose yet, until they meet a man named Crocus, but he isn't in the dub at all.

• Clip Edit •

Insert the close up of Zoro commenting about the map being Buggy's that was mentioned earlier.

Sanji with hearts for eyes, compliments Nami, but Zoro still doubts that ships could climb up mountains. This scene is cut out, but the next was put at the beginning of the episode. Sanji heard of something though, that half of the people trying to enter the Grand Line die trying, this is when the clouds get dark and it begins to rain. The close up of Sanji and Luffy in the middle of all of that is cut out.

At the dub right now, insert the scene where Usopp finally gets Nami's attention, who orders Sanji to help out. In the dub though, right after Usopp says that the current is too strong, the dub jumps ahead and goes straight to the part where both of them push/pull with all their might, causing them to break it. In the original, after it rains, Nami orders Luffy to tie up the sail. He spots the Red Line and calls everyone out. After looking at the Red Line, Going Merry gets sucked in. Luffy quickly tells Nami that they're going to ram into the Red Line if they don't do something. When Usopp asks for directions, she just tells him to keep it steady. Zoro finally believes the water is moving upwards. Luffy yells to Usopp and Sanji to move right, so they push as hard as they can (this part is mentioned at the beginning of this edit). Merry rocks back and forth in the current, and then Sanji and Usopp break the helm..

In the original everyone freaks out now that the helm's broken and they're going to ram into the Red Line. The scenes with their facial expressions happen later in the dub. Uh, but let's continue on..

• Digital/Clip/Dialogue Edit •

After the helm breaks in the dub (they haven't even seen what the Red Line looks like, at this point, we're only 4:32 in including the intro) something rolls on the floor by Luffy's feet. Hmm oh lookie! It's a Grand Compass!

Insert the shot of Nami when she originally asked Usopp to repeat what he said about the strong current. You can't see her mouth but she looks up in attention.

Yeah.. Luffy doesn't know either. I'm as confused as he is. Background changed here. (Upload new attachment "44sd_compass1.jpg", Upload new attachment "44sd_compass2.jpg") Luffy originally found it when Mr. 9 carelessly lost it.

But Usopp knows! The Grand Compass belonged to him. He said that his dad (Yasopp) gave it to his mother to give it to him. Insert a clip of Yasopp from way backwhen. Yasopp says, "I know our Usopp will become a great pirate one day! And, with that compass his future is up to fate! Fate will determine whether or not he learns what it's for." I know what all of you are thinking.. but it doesn't end there. (Upload new attachment "44sd_usopp1.jpg")

After that mini flashback-that-was-made-up, there is an inserted shot of Zoro smiling while he looks down.

After that, Usopp looks at Sanji who is standing in front of a burnt up stove (this is the scene when he tells everyone that they're hurting Apis' feelings by not eating the food she made), Apis is editted out since her arc was skipped, and so is Luffy, since it wouldn't make sense if he was eating all of a sudden. Look at Sanji too! (Upload new attachment "44sd_sanji1.jpg")

Sanji believes he knows how to use one.. 'cause Zeff aparently told him how to. Flashback with Zeff here.. Zeff says to be able to sail the Grand Line, they need a compass and the secrets from his logbook. Flashback of the book that Zeff offered Luffy to take.. Some random Sanji pic from the Krieg fight, and then the story of the magnetic charges and stuff that Crocus told the crew. Raftel was mentioned at least.

Following the above scene, there's a shot of Nami looking at the Log Pose, it normally happened during the time when Crocus talked about the Log Pose. (Upload new attachment "44sd_compass3.jpg")

Insert Zoro holding his head (the shot where he starts to doubt Buggy's map) again.

Nami and the Grand Compass again... in the ship. Background change, before, Nami looked at the Log Pose after Crocus tells them about the magnetic fields. Nami's been mirrored too! (Upload new attachment "44sd_compass4.jpg")

• Clip Edit •

Merry Go travels within the storm, and in the original Nami orders Sanji and Luffy to take care of the sails. I believe this was mentioned earlier..

Right after you can see the Red Line even though fog covers most of it. The shot of the Red Line is what Luffy saw when he tied up the sail in the original. This originally happens earlier.

Still jumping around. After seeing a bit of the Red Line, it's back to Nami in the ship. The clip used for it is the one when Nami said that Luffy doesn't understand Reverse Mountain at all, but she didn't hold her head afterwards, it was cut early. It's the one that happens after Luffy laughs about Reverse Mountain being a Mystery Mountain.

Afterwards, it's finally the part where Going Merry is right up there with the Red Line, looking veeerry tiny. A bit of the end was cut out so you didn't really see how the peak was unseeable.

Up until you see the mini whirlpools, things are unaltered (but we're talking about 3 four second scenes) and then it's commercial break for the dub. After the break, a repeat of Merry Go looking super tiny against the Red Line, except they unaltered it by not cutting it off.

Dubbed Luffy is on top of the mast all of a sudden. It's when he calls everyone to come out. Going a bit back in time a lot of times.

Pretty much unaltered for a little bit. In the dub, Merry Go suddenly shakes, but in the original Usopp is surprised by how tall the peak is; he can't even see it. Then in the original you see the little whirlpools in the Red line. The last short clip that showed what the Red Line looked like is cut out. Then Going Merry shakes. Let's just say some scenes switched places.

Awesome, some unaltered scenes when Going Merry gets sucked in by the currents, minus the lengths of them. Nami spots the opening in the Red Line and Usopp asks her for directions. I believe I talked about this earlier as well..? But, didn't the helm break? This is what happens when you mess with the times scenes take place.. Confused? Yes, yes that's right.

Zolo finally believes that the water is moving up the mountain, and an angle shot of the water going up that originally happens after Zoro began to believe is cut out.

Sanji and Usopp trying to move the helm with all their strength is cut out, because it happened much earlier in the dub. It happens after Luffy sees that they're going a bit off course.

Merry swaying back and forth is kept in. Sanji and Usopp breaking the helm is cut out for the same reason as the above. Then you see everyone's terrified facial expressions. In the dub it's made to look like they're scared about getting smashed, and in the original it was because the helm broke at the worst time.

Immediately right after, there are two still shots of Luffy leaping out to Fuusen (balloon) and knock Merry back on course, but they're cut out. He still Ballooned Merry though.

Insert a repeat of the mini diagram of the Reverse Mountain and the moving currents. This is after it looks like Going Merry is moving towards the camera.

Luffy pulls his head out from the floor and wants to see the peak too. In the original he runs by but within the shadows is someone.. this part is cut out since Apis arc is cut.

After everyone cheers, Erik appears! All the scenes involving him are cut out.

But nevertheless, we continue on. We're at the peak! Fog.. clip of the rudders is cut out.

• Dialogue Edit •

Dubbed Luffy's supposed to make a hard turn and everyone's counting on him. But, he's sitting on Merry's head, what's he supposed to do?

Everyone tells themselves why they're going to the Grand Line. Zoro seeks to fight Mihawk, Nami wants to make a complete map, Sanji seeks All Blue.. Usopp is going to be a brave warrior of the sea, but in the dub he's happy that he didn't cry once.

• Clip Edit •

Merry going down with the currents before becoming a still picture, then the To Be Continued right after is cut out. End of 61, on to.. 62? (commercial break anyways)

Woot, after the commercial break, the beginning of 62 is unaltered. Too bad it couldn't be like this all the way. Here it comes... Laboon?

• Digital Edit •

Laboon the Iceberg! It "Boooh--"'s too, ever heard of an iceberg that does that? (Upload new attachment "44sd_laboon1.jpg")

• Clip Edit •

The mountain-shaped object ahead of them gets bigger, but they still don't know what it is. After Luffy shouts "who cares!?" this clip happens, but it's cut out in the dub.

Insert a clip of the rudders that originally happens a bit later. This is when all three guys, Sanji, Usopp, and Zoro are trying to move the helm even though it's broken.

Two clips after Luffy is feeling unsure about what's ahead of them, the crew begins to panic and finally, some sort of black wall is revealed to them. They're heading towards a giant whale! D: (all of this cut out). Here's a pic of Laboon. (Upload new attachment "44s_laboon.jpg")

A shot of Sanji is put in next, and it originally happens when they're getting nearer to the whale. Sanji wonders where its eyes are, and with that the crew knows that the whale hasn't seen them yet.

Insert a shot of Going Merry being pushed around by the waves/winds. I don't remember which episode this came from, though..

Right after is a clip of Zoro and Nami in the same screen, and that originally happens after Sanji (in the original) asks where the whale's eyes are (two edits up).

Merry is heading towards the iceberg.. this scene is from episode 64 when Nami got a first taste of the Grand Line's weather. I think it's safe to say that the rest of 61 except for one scene is cut out. Oh and, all of 62 is cut too. Eh.. I think 63's outta there too.

Episode 64. Sanji pulling on the newly-fixed helm is cut out, because the crew never stopped in the dub so far. In episode 64, Luffy already allowed Mr. 9 and Miss Wednesday to stay on their ship. They told them about their home called Whiskey Peak and so they left with Crocus' Log Pose. Otherwise the scenes with the crazy weather that surrounded the scene with Sanji are kept intact.

Nami helping Sanji pull on the helm and Zoro sleeping while he's covered in snow is cut out, as well as nearly everything after that. But first we take another trip back to episode 62.

After dubbed Usopp screams about crashing into the iceberg, Luffy uses the cannon to shoot. Luffy using the cannon came from episode 62 when he decided to shoot Laboon so Merry would stop, but Merry's head broke. About 2 short scenes after that are kept in.

• Digital Edit •

Luffy shoots.. at an iceberg, but in the original he shoots at Laboon! (Upload new attachment "44sd_laboon2.jpg")

After Luffy feels content, Going Merry slows down and the scene switches before Merry's head snaps off. Laboon is editted out too. (Upload new attachment "44sd_laboon3.jpg")

Merry's head snaps off and Luffy is in great shock about his special seat. After it goes to the three guys by the helm. In the dub, after Merry Go slows down (the above edit), it goes to Sanji, Usopp, and Zoro calming down by the helm. Yosh, we're leaving 62 again and going back to 64.

• Clip Edit •

Right after the above edit, the dub moves on to about the 6:53 mark in 64. After the storm dies down, the sky is peaceful again and a few seagulls are flying. The camera moves down to Going Merry. In the original, Zoro wakes up from a nap and wonders why everyone's sleeping (Zoro slept through all the strange weathers that the crew was experiencing).

• Clip/Dialogue Edit •

After the camera goes down to Merry Go, the scene switches to Luffy smiling. This scene originally happens after Mr. 9 complains about Zoro being slow on what's been happening. The scene after that with Zoro talking to Luffy is kept in. Dubbed Luffy asks Zolo where they're heading next, and he said to place named Misty Peak.. how does he know that?

• Name Change •

Whiskey Peak is now called Misty Peak.

• Clip Edit •

After Nami originally beats Zoro up for taking a nap when he wasn't supposed to be (not in the dub), she shouts for everyone to be alert.

• Digital Edit •

Dubbed Nami changed her shirt real quick I guess. The word MODE on Nami's shirt is gone, and this screenshot is related to the above edit. (Upload new attachment "44sd_nami1.jpg")

Missing Mr. 9 and Miss Wednesday on the ship since they never boarded in the dub. (Upload new attachment "44sd_baroque1.jpg")

• Clip Edit •

Since the last Clip/Dialogue edit, there haven't been any change in clip order.. and then when the camera shifts from left to right to see all the large cacti in Whiskey Peak, it gets cut out in the dub. After that Miss Wednesday and Mr. 9 leave the ship, and all the scenes involving that are gone.

Usopp getting worried about not being able to leave "Monster Island" is cut out.

After Sanji told Nami he'd protect her, Usopp appears in the same screen clenching his throat, telling the crew about his can't-get-on-this-island-disease.. Usopp appearing is cut out.

• Dialogue Edit •

Usopp does mention about his disease in the dub, but Zolo asked if it was "Appendifrightus".

• Clip Edit •

Unaltered scenes for quite a while. When Usopp gets ready to attack any monsters that come out, Zoro is ready as well, but he doesn't show up at this time in the dub.

• Digital Edit •

I find it funny how "WELCOME" on a person's flag is left alone, but in the next scene, it gets erased on another person's flag. (Upload new attachment "44sd_welcome1.jpg")

And again. (Upload new attachment "44sd_welcome2.jpg")

This nun got a complete makeover. (Upload new attachment "44sd_nun1.jpg")

• Clip Edit •

Usopp throwing kisses to everyone is cut out.

The camera moves from a man's feet up to his upper half, which is cut out. The screen immediately goes to see Igarappoi's upper half.

• Dialogue Edit •

Igarappoi's "Mah mah mah~" is changed to "Ahem, ahem, ahem", and he only ahems once in this whole episode. Igarappoi does his Mahs many times, it's his character.

• Digital Edit •

Though the same nun is redrawn again, for probably the first milisecond she was still a nun. (Upload new attachment "44d_nun2.gif")

• Dialogue Edit •

Misty Peak known for its music and fruit punch? Whiskey peak is a spirit brewing town with lively music!

• Clip Edit •

Igarappoi's Mahs are cut out here, but him smiling afterwards is kept in.

• Dialogue Edit •

Dubbed Nami called Sanji, Usopp, and Luffy jerks, but in the original she said they were three idiots. (san-baka)

• Clip Edit •

Party time! The people playing music at the beginning and the still shots of people drinking and having fun are cut out. Even Usopp talking about his stories with the Sea Kings are cut out.

Nami refusing alcohol is cut out.

• Dialogue Edit •

Igarappoi offers Whiskey Peak's Special Drink that is from the highest quality of grapes on the island. In the dub it's from their grapes, but it's their Special Punch.

Igarappoi explaining how it has little alcohol in it, and Nami trying a sip of it is cut out.

They decide to start a Meat Pie Eating Contest. In the original it was their Kanpai Contest (Cheers! Contest) where the person who drank the most wins.

• Clip Edit •

Immediately after Igarappoi speaks of the contest's prize money, Nami demands a cup of alcohol. This, including Nami telling Zoro to participate too, and everyone cheering with their tankards is cut out.

The clip of the people playing trumpets and all (camera moving from right to left) is inserted before Luffy begins to eats a ton of food.

Afterwards, Zoro on his 10th tankard and Nami on her 12th tankard is cut out.

Luffy asking for more food is cut out.

The first cook fainting from cooking so much for Luffy is cut out.

• Dialogue Edit •

Zolo tells Nami about Sanji wooing 20 girls, but it was actually just a person at the party talking about it.

• Clip Edit •

Igarappoi saying how it's a delightful evening, then all of a sudden revealing an evil-like face, is cut out.

The dub right now is at the part when Nami's pretty well drunk and is up against the unrevealed Miss Monday. In the original after the thing with the evil Igarappoi, we go to what Miss Wednesday and Mr. 9 are up to. We'll come back to that in a bit.

Skipping that little bit for now, Zoro's done drinking, but that's cut out. Then we're at the dubbed point.

• Digital Edit •

Nami's blushes from being drunk are erased. The wine is erased. Miss Monday's outfit is changed and her cross is gone too. (Upload new attachment "44sd_nami2.jpg")

• Dialogue Edit •

Even though she's drunk in the original, Nami comments about Sanji wooing all those girls in the dub.

• Clip Edit •

Luffy asking for seconds is put here, this was taken out earlier and was mentioned earlier up.

The part with Igarappoi looking all evil-like happens after Luffy shouts for seconds, but it's just him laughing, and then it goes on to see what Miss Wednesday and Mr. 9 are up to.

• Dialogue Edit •

Mr. 9 in the dub says something about letting one of the Straw Hats get away.. the swordsman. Their plan is to steal those swords to sell for a million berries.. hmm. In the original they failed to kill Laboon to feed Whiskey Peak because of the Straw Hats, but they managed to lure them to Whiskey Peak. Their habit of saying "Baby" all the time doesn't seem like it's in the dub.

• Clip Edit •

Right after the close up of the Unluckies Box, dubbed Luffy goes down after eating a crap load of food. In the original this is the time when Zoro's done drinking. Luffy going down originally happens after Nami laughs like a crazy girl while she's drinking with Miss Monday.

• Dialogue Edit •

No dialogue for the third cook that dropped.

• Clip Edit •

Nami drinking, Miss Monday going down, and Nami going down right after is cut out.

• Digital Edit •

Usopp's blushes are gone. (Upload new attachment "44sd_usopp2.jpg")

• Clip Edit •

Sanji passing out on a girl's lap is cut out.

Zoro, Usopp, and Nami sleeping are cut out. They only showed Luffy and Sanji.

• Digital Edit •

Sanji's blushes are gone too. (Upload new attachment "44sd_sanji2.jpg")

• Clip Edit •

Igarappoi/Mr. 8 turning around, Miss Wednesday and Mr. 9 on the rooftop and jumping down are cut out.

A backshot of Mr. 8 and the shot of Mr. 9 right after is cut out.

A shot of Miss Wednesday close after is gone.

• Dialogue Edit •

No mention of adding more alcohol to Zoro and Nami's drinks, just thankful that the chefs passed out or else Luffy would've kept eating. Ah, and you know.. Miss Monday had a sweet voice in the original but she's got a very manly voice in the dub.

• Clip Edit •

Mr. 9 defending themselves from Miss Monday's remarks about not being able to bring back whale meat is cut out.

• Name Change •

All the agents have a slight name change. The Mr. and Miss before their number/weekday/holiday are gone. For example, Mr. 8 is just called 8 and Miss Wednesday is just called Wednesday.

• Digital Edit •

Bounty papers missing Dead or Alive and the stuff below the bounty amount, you all know that by now.

• Clip Edit •

The clip with Miss Monday feeling ashamed (Miss Wednesday being in the same screen) and the clip afterwards, that involved Igarappoi telling them about reporting to the boss and taking all the valuables on the ship is cut out. Igarappoi's "mahs" are not in the dub.

• Clip/Dialogue Edit •

Igarappoi telling them about losing 30% of the bounty if they kill the crew is cut out. It was a sort of side shot of him.

• Clip Edit •

The close up shots of Miss Monday and Miss Wednesday switched spots.

• Clip Edit •

Zoro appearing on the rooftop is cut out. The rest of 64 might show up in the next dubbed episode. Who knows.. >>;
