Purin Purin of the 77th Fleet

• Clip Edit •

As Nami tells the Straw Hats to get off the island, find a new navigator, and look for One Piece, Johnny and Yosaku are pretty ticked off. Before the zoomed out image of Nami with her eyes shadowed, in the original we see the close ups of Johnny and then Yosaku, but in the dub it was just Johnny and Yosaku is cut out.

Luffy falls down on the road and takes a nap because he refuses to leave the island. One camera angle of Luffy is cut out.

Sanji putting his hand to his cigarette (or lollipop, in this case) while he closes his eyes is taken out. This occurs right after Nami yells and runs away.

The mermen celebrating when Arlong told them no negotiations with the marines is taken out.

• Mistake •

The "77" on the Marine sail (indicating it was the 77th fleet) was edited out, but when Chew ambushes them, the 77 was still there for a short second.

• Clip Edit •

Mostly on the shots of the Marines and their sinking boat due to the whirlpool caused by Arlong's top three mermen, the screen kinda goes jumpy to signify that they are indeed sinking.

Instead of the screen fading to black while it's focussed on the whirlpool, it immediately goes to the next scene.

• Digital Edit •

The "77" on the ripped up sail is changed to the Marine's symbol. (Image)

• Clip Edit •

The scene with Sanji taking a puff on his cigarette is cut out.

Usopp runs with a cloth over his head, remembering what just happened with him and Nami. The shot with the blood on the floor is cut out, as well as Nami stabbing her own hand to make it look like she murdered Usopp.

• Dialogue Edit •

The misunderstanding with the word "Komono" between Sanji and Zoro was not mentioned for obvious reasons. Kaizoku-Fansubs has a note with the following: 'Zoro calls Nami a "Komono" = Little servant, Sanji thinks he means Nami has child-like features, i.e. flat chested'

• Clip Edit •

Somebody suddenly tosses a vase through the window of Nojiko's house. Then we see still shots of a broken chair, window, and wine, but the shot with the wine bottle is taken out.

• Clip Edit •

The close up of Nami's eyes as she looks up and down, Nami putting her hands on the table, the side view of Nojiko, the close up of Nami's saddened eyes, Nami, Luffy and Usopp playing cards, water leaking in the Going Merry, the black and white flashbacks of the Kuro arc, and the multiple scenes of Nami with the leaves falling behind her were all cut out. In the dub, it starts with a group shot with Luffy on Going Merry's head, which happens after the Kuro arc flashback in the original. After, is an added scene with the crew going "Kanpai!" (Cheers!). The Going Merry heading to to the rainbow is kept, as well as the still shots of each crew member.

• Clip Edit •

Young Nami and Nojiko showing a lady the tangerines they picked were cut out. Instead, it was replaced with many colorless shots of the lady, Bellmere in a Navy uniform fighting in a war. These are scenes that are from the next episode. The original part where Nojiko introduces Bellemere, right before the To Be Continued, is very heartwarming...

Reflections

• Cinder's Thoughts •

This is probably one of the few episodes with minimal editing (minimal, being < 15). It's too bad that Purin Purin didn't get a real name. I have to say that I was impressed at the beginning of the episode when the dialogue was the same. That was just the beginning though. As usual, it didn't seem like I pointed it out lots but there was always some sort of odd dialogue present. If I did point them out, every episode would be way past my definition of minimal, so I was being generous for this episode, and probably will be for the others to come. :-?
