The first bit of dialogue inside the ship. There was supposed to be a silence in the zoomed out view, and then you hear talking from the captain of the ship. He was telling a passenger that a whirlpool won't affect the ship (the episode opens with the sight of a huge whirlpool) but in the English version, the man was just telling the passenger a story about people begging him to be an admiral. His voice is also supposed to fade out when Nami is being asked a dance.

A few seconds of a sailor spotting something in the water is cut out. This is when a different sailor was trying to get the barrel in the water, but misses.
• Dialogue Edit •
The sailors' mention of wine in the barrel is not present.
Nami originally had no dialogue while Alvida's ship was attacking. She was saying, "you're standing on my toe", even if her mouth wasn't moving.

As the barrel rolls around in the ship when Alvida continues her attack, Nami begins to make her move. She opens the door and looks around to see if the coast is clear (cut), but another cannonball hits, startling her (cut). Then she runs out to the open before running back, because Alvida's ship just pulled up beside the ship Nami was on.
Alvida's pirates running towards the camera when they begin their hijacking has this kind of "freeze-frame" moment that emphasizes their arrival before you see Koby trembling with a rope. That short pause was not present.

Koby noticing the huge barrel is taken out. This happens right before Nami infiltrates Alvida's ship.
Nami kick connecting with one of Alvida's men's crotch was cut, but judging the look on the pirate, it's still easy to say that she did such a thing to him.
There are three pirates who find Koby who is rolling the large barrel across the room. Each of them have dialogue, but the blonde one didn't in the dub. Afterwards, Koby tells the pirates that they'll get killed if Alvida finds out they wanted to drink some wine and this is cut.
As one of the pirates plan to smash the barrel open, the camera switches to the motionless barrel a couple of times before going back to the pirates who raises his fist. The first two shots of the barrel is cut.

Some clips switched places as Luffy popped out of the barrel, and one shot from a different angle after he "punched" the pirate is cut out.
• Digital Edit •
Luffy had dialogue but his mouth stayed open. In the dub, it's possible that they wanted to make him have dialogue a few seconds earlier and have his mouth move.

Luffy getting out of the barrel as the two pirates yell at him are cut out.
• Audio Edit •
Right before the blades of the pirates were mysteriously cut, instead of the snapping sound of blades, it was a combination of clashing metal and a "bouncing" sound.

When the blades were broken, the screen was white before fading to Koby with his eyes closed. This white fade is cut.
Koby looks up to see what happened. The camera moves as if it was from Koby's point of view, looking up from the bottom half of Luffy to the top. In the dub, the screen was just in one place - the top half of Luffy.
The same thing occurs when Luffy introduces himself.

In the dub, Luffy didn't ask Koby if there were any extra boats around and that his little boat got sucked in by a whirlpool, and the clip showing Koby surprised is taken out.

When Nami gathered up all the treasure she could get, she originally never spoke, only the pirates above her.

Alvida chucks her iron club at the three pirates Luffy met earlier. The club connecting with one of the pirate's cheek is cut.
So, that guys flies out into the water. The mace comes down from the sky and hits the remaining two in the head, which is cut out.
Repeated a short clip of Luffy and Koby before seeing the side of Koby's face close up while he's talking.
• Dialogue Edit •
Koby asks Luffy all sorts of questions when he finds out about Luffy's dream. One of them that wasn't mentioned was asking about his crew, but Luffy said he didn't have any.
• Clip/Digital/Dialogue Edit •
Koby shakes his head back and forth because he thinks that everything Luffy wants to do is impossible. Luffy then hits him on the head to make him shut up, but something is changed. This shot is inserted before Koby "ducks", but it's also edited. Luffy's arm is edited (since he fakes it in the dub) and Koby's body is just different, if you can notice the brightness of it. Also...

Koby cowering before Alvida and Alvida emerging from the smoke switched places.
There is a zoomed-out shot of Luffy with the blades poking through the door behind him, and a zoomed-in shot of it right after. The first is cut.
• Name Change •
Roronoa Zoro became Roronoa Zolo.

The silence between everyone (the shock) after hearing what Luffy said to Alvida is taken out.
Luffy punching one of Alvida's pirates before slowly turning his face towards the others is cut out.
• Dialogue Edit •
Koby never said that Luffy ate the Devil's Fruit.. maybe he was going to but he still didn't say it. Koby tells us all in the dub, but I suppose it's okay, since Alvida questions him a little later.
• Name Change •
Akuma no mi, or known as Devil's Fruit, is changed to Cursed Fruit. (Pronounced "kur-sehd", has that accent on the "e")
• Dialogue Edit •
Luffy didn't get to mention that he wanted 10 people in his crew, which is pretty important.
• Clip Edit •
Koby tells Luffy to run before Alvida really hurts him, but then he remembers what Luffy said earlier when he held his straw hat in his hand. The actual flashback is taken out, and Luffy's voice is just a voice in Koby's head.
When this happens, Luffy glancing at Koby and Koby glancing back is repeated after Koby hears Luffy's voice echoing in his head.
• Name Change •
Gomu Gomu no Pisutoru (Pistol) is called Gum Gum Blast.
• Clip Edit •
The shot by shot scene of Luffy's Pistol connecting with Alvida is cut out, as well as a little bit of Alvida flying. (widescreen-ish clip)
• Dialogue/Audio Edit •
Luffy hits Koby again at the very very end.. it got taken out though. Also, as well as hitting Koby, Luffy kept on saying that Zoro was a good guy (not mentioned!).

What can I say? I kinda enjoyed it, and part of me didn't like it. It was decent in my opinion.
First off, the opening. I thought they were going to keep the dubbed "We Are", but instead they add their own techno rap opening. It was as crappy as the other 4kids openings. Speaking of the music, they cut out the original BGM and placed in their own piratey themed music.
The voices were ok. Coby was right on to his voice, the rest were decent and tolerable.
Some changes were noticable, and some were there for censoring. Like Cursed Fruit, which I suppose its bad to mention "Devil" for little kids. For Gomu Gomu no Pistol, they changed it to Gum Gum Blast. I guess they had to change Pistol to Blast for the same reason as "Devil's Fruit". Speaking of Gum Gum Blast, hearing Luffy shout out "Gum Gum" sounded too dragged out as compared to saying "Gomu Gomu no..". A pointless change was Zoro to Zolo. I don't understand why they didn't keep Zoro.
This episode wasn't as badly butchered as other 4kids series, but it's only the first episode. We'll see in future episodes on how the progess is.

Well I just got finished watching the One Piece dub. Remember the pretty good english version of the original Japanese opening 4Kids released a couple months ago? It seems they decided to replace it with a completely new opening that's a rap! I have no idea why they did this. The preview for the next episode is gone and there is no ending credits video.
Luffy's voice I don't really like mainly because it's not funny like in the Japanese version. Alot of the scenes that were supposed to be funny aren't because of new music and the dub voices and text.
We get to hear Nami's voice for the first time which I don't like either, it just doesn't sound like her. The voice I think that is the best of the three main characters so far is Zoro (or should I say Zolo as they call him) from what I've heard. Obviously no blood, alchohal, swearing and super violent scenes will be present in the dub. I'm really hoping uncut DVDs are coming because, while this is watchable, it is alot different from the original.

Alright, here is my opinion on the One Piece dub. Lets start from the beginning. The opening sucked ass. It reminded me of the DBGT opening. As for the voices, they are alright. Somethings kind of made me shake my head in disgust. First off they took out Luffy hitting Coby and TALKED about it. Also, they changed Marine to Navy, even though it said MARINE clearly on the sails....so they edited it out and put Navy in its place. So we know what will happen with Zoro's WANTED poster, but that will be a while. Also, they gave Nami dialogue. Pretty stupid dialogue. "You're stepping on my toe!" It is tolerable.
